Brooks Glycerin is my go-to for all easier stuff. Nike for everything else. Could never get into pegs, just didn’t feel right

Anyone run in Newtons recently? They used to be all over big races and now it seems like you couldn’t find a pair to save your life.
Newton once paid people to run in their shoes which was really the only reason anyone should have ever run in a Newton shoe.

On shoes are a scam. The ‘cloud pods’ don’t provide the cushioning or rebound that is claimed, and the ‘speed board’ is stiff and hard as a plank of wood. On top of that, they’re heavy and expensive.
They do look nice though. A cool wear around shoe, if you get a pair for free as I did.
"Scam" is a bit strong, and my cash used to buy a pair of On Cloudflows was not completely wasted as they look great and work well as an indoor office shoe for walking about. But for running, I just got plantar pain as they are too hard and their technology just doesn't seem to work. I won't buy On again. If the shoes work for others then all power to them, but I can't help feeling they're missing out on better options.
I prefer Brooks and Nike as brands as I like a drop like a cliff-face (12mm for the Brooks Ghost and 10mm for a lot of Nikes).
All I know is that I've been buying New Balance 990's for over 20 years and the last pair I got was the worst, most cheaply made $100+ shoes I have ever worn. The uppers were so obviously thinner and lightweight compared to previous iterations, and sure enough I didn't even get 6 months of wear and they began to fray and get holes in them.
Unbelievably, I think I am done with NB.

Newton's are awful
Doesnt get any worse than Hoka.
