I hope Cruz breaks 4, but my money would be on him running slightly slower than last time around—maybe 4:03-4:04.
Zophia Dudek and Abby Vanderkooi are scheduled to run the 3200 on Friday at GVSU.
Back in my day there was no indoor, and people just came out of nowhere. There was general progression from a guy running 10:00 early in high school, then 9:20's/9:30's, then finally senior year they might be a 9 flat type of guy, but no one knew them before the season because they hadn't run fast yet in their previous years.

Cool story old man but it's 2020
Thx for update on Dudek & Vanderkooi.
Katelyn Hart/IL won this race last year over Dudek.
Anyone from IL familiar with Hart or Josh Methner's indoor racing plans, if they have any?

Hart is entered at BU this weekend
Thx, Fasttuohy, found K Hart in the 3k . . . where there are 244 entries.
Would like to see Hart & Starlipper in same heat . . . seed times (9:09 & 9:17) are fairly close.
apologies for short response but it was from a cell phone....that will be a whole lotta 3,000 heats!
Thorvaldson in 3200 at Simplot Games
Have we heard anything about Starliper's plans in the 3k? Do you think she might run the first 2k with the pack and then shut it down and cruise in the last k at tempo pace or something?
Are there weekends when high schoolers go for slow times?

According to many, that should often be the case.
The meet schedule
https://www.flotrack.org/events/6578337-2020-2020-bu-david-hemery-valentine-invitational/schedule
looks like 10-11 heats in 3,000
Hundreds entered in each race.
Men's mile looks to be largest field w/379 entries.
Looks like everyone in New England who has ever run track is lacin' 'em up this weekend.
Back to the women's 3k, here are the 3k splits from the 2M at last year's NBIN:
1 # 2555 Katelyn Tuohy 20 Thiells, NY 9:10.78 (9:51.05/2M)
2 # 1328 Katelynne Hart 20 Glen Ellyn, IL 9:17.83 (9:58.42/2M)
3 # 3201 Sydney Thorvaldson 21 Rawlins, WY 9:21.76
4 # 2058 Grace Connolly 19 Natick, MA 9:40.80
5 # 957 Taylor Ewert 20 Beavercreek, OH 9:40.90
Starlipper was 2nd in the NBIN mile last year, running 4:39.05 in a virtual tie w/Parks.
Not sure where Marlee's 9:09 seed time comes from -- possibly an outdoor meet?
Would expect Starlipper to run a bit faster than Hart since she is pretty race sharp right now while Hart is just opening her season (to best of my knowledge).
Starliper barely made it to fastest heat with 9:09 seed time, Aisling Cuffe, Kelsey Chmiel, Elly Henes in next heat. Looks like Hart changed to the 5,000
Tuohy can sleep (I am kidding!) Starliper 9:07. Excellent run for her (in front of her future coach and teammates.
