Yeahh, i agree with you

Be honest in as kind of a way as possible. Make sure to express your appreciation for the thought, and then explain why it doesn't work for you. If your relationship goes further you will need this skill. You will occasionally get it wrong, and the solution is not to just live with it wrong.
If I got my husband a gift and he felt this way about it, I would wish for him to return it and get something that he wants. I would not wish for him to have anxiety about a present. Life is too short. Just be honest but polite. It will be okay.
Good luck.
Obviously she's telling u that ur slow and the only way you could WIN is by being a trail runner
LOL...c'mon man, if you want to keep getting laid just suck it up and wear that out the door once a month. Go on a trail run, wear it as a badge of honor and reminder that you are nothing like the basement dwelling incels of these boards.
Also, just saw the vest. it's $200, and she was more than willing to find an item that she THOUGHT you would appreciate. You are a moron if you let this one go. Why on earth would you expect her to understand running the way that you do?
She sought out a running gift, and said "I want to buy the best vest that I can get". It's like you going out to buy lingerie. You don't know what the hell you're doing, you just take the advice of the hot girl that helps you in the store or whatever is rated highest online. But, you made the effort , tried your best, and that is really all that matters.
Either you are a complete troll, or you just don't get it. That vest can be returned, worn, or sh*t on. It doesn't matter. If all you can see is the item she bought, then you are focusing on the trees and not the forest. Take it from someone who is happily married, get off the boards for the weekend and enjoy your girl.
Give it back to her for Valentine's Day
As soon as I saw the thread title, I knew this would be a good one...
Also, anyone wearing a hydration vest on a 20 mile run needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror.
This post is crying for attention. What a dumb post. Expected from Letsrun.
Pics of the vest , damn it !

Which vest did she get you? I cannot sympathize with you or believe it is truly lame without knowing which model. They vary greatly, some look lame others not so bad.
This - it’s not the worst I’ve seen but still lame.

Ok so here’s the update. I spoke to my gf last night and told her how I really don’t like the vest and would never wear it. Then to my surprise, she burst out laughing and said she was so relieved as she hated it too but was told by a running shop staff member that it’s what everyone was getting and they were essential for runners.
Then we got into taking about running clothes in general and she said that she also hates my running shorts but she knows I like them so all is good. She isn’t a runner but says she knows some runners wear weird clothes hence she thought the vest might be ok. Anyway, we agreed that the vest will go back and she is going to use the money towards taking me away for a night somewhere.
It’s kinda funny how cool she’s been about it and she even laughed when I joked about her camel toe leggings. Well that led to an even better birthday present so I wasn’t complaining.
Anyway, moral of the story is to be honest about crappy gifts as you never know what it may lead to.
Finally, to all my trail running friends, please take no offence to my comments and carry on as you are!
Thanks all for the input and happy Friday!
The bit about the camel-toe shouldn't have added anything to this story, but it definitely did.
I don't believe a single thing that happened in this thread.
