How does a NB athlete win? that goes agains the Nike narrative?

The big question now is if Nike will try to buy Elle away from NB. Nike can obviously pay bigger than whatever she is making now.
You know who must be REALLY be psyched right now? NB teammate Jenny Simpson....the last women to beat her, with a 4:17 at 5th Ave. Jenny ran an easy win in 8:51 on a slow track today.
Holy moly. Congrats!! I need to find the whole race.
Hate to be that guy but is there a spike version of the Fuelcell 5820?

Purrier wearing new NB carbon plate spikes that are not available commercially ... Is that legal?
Of course not...but since it’s not Nike, everyone looks the other way. Coburn and Mcgee with them recently as well.

Looks liked she's naturally lean out a bit since her college days which is helping her performance. She is basically the Chris Solinsky of female runners.
You know you’re on the letsrun message boards when someone runs the 2nd fastest indoor mile ever, and people don’t even hesitate to comment on her appearance and body type.

if she ran 4:16.2 last year at 5th, why are we shocked by this
Downhill vs track..
Sure but that was the third fastest time ever. The downhills are very slight and the second quarter of the race is at a slight incline. It's a fair course as long as there is no significant tailwind, usually there's not too much wind for whatever reason. I'm not super surprised by this result and I wouldn't have even raised an eyebrow at Purrier running sub 4:18 here. I think that performance didn't get the recognition it deserved because 5th avenue is the last race of the season for milers and it's usually raced as an afterthought. There's never any big name east africans there either.
Nobody would comment on her appearance if she actually ran the 2nd fastest time ever. But Nico Young split a faster first mile of his 3k today and many other high school boys could run circles around her. Even if she breaks 4, nobody will mention her appearance. I guarantee it.

New rules don’t take affect until April 30. Shoes used in international competitions before that date don’t even fall under the ban.
Four national records in this race. All breaking 4:20. For perspective, Jenny Simpson's best is 4:25.91. Shelby Houlihan 4:22..5. Shannon Rowbury 4:22.66. Jemma Reekie (still not a household name) now holds the UK national record indoors in both the 800 and the mile (and her indoor 800 mark is better than Ajee Wilson's).
Elinor Purrier? Just crazy.
But I still must ask the question: is there something revolutionary about shoe design going on here? 2% is about 5 seconds in a mile.
I would hesitate about the black page unless it also poses a question about the shoes.
I wonder if it is possible for white blonde women to dope, or is it only Africans only. Hmmm

Also she makes koko look even scarier skinny
I hate to agree with you on this because I usually resist all the negative KoKo body comments, however, it looks like it has gotten worse now and she seriously needs an intervention. I don't want to go off topic but there is no way Koko can compete at that weight with zero muscle mass. You gotta draw from something to close hard anaerobically and she has nothing.
According to Wikipedia, she is 5'9" and 106 pounds. One would assume that is the weight she is OK with being out there, because if she didn't agree with it, she or her people could easily edit it. I don't believe the 106 for a minute but let's assume it's correct. That's a BMI of 15.7 and is way off the scale for being underweight and that's the weight she is OK with people seeing. Imagine what it really is. I would guess under 100 pounds easily. Pete needs to step in and set some ground rules. If he doesn't care about her well being, he should at least care about her performance and there is no way she will ever be able to find that extra gear unless she fixes whatever is currently wrong that is causing her to be so thin.
Seeing Koko on the track was disturbing. There is no way she’s making it to this summer or the Olympics without injury at that weight, let alone what it’s doing to her body long term. You can see the lanugo hair covering her body from a mile away. Get help ASAP!
Koko looks great and continues to run great. People will be saying this when she is 30 and her career is winding down.

Reekie is actually a pretty good guinea pig for this in that it seems like that group had access to nike prototypes last season. She did nothing special then (2:02/4:02) so I dont think you can put her jump down to spikes.
Also from speaking with athletes that used them, they say that the spikes don't feel faster than other spikes, but that your calfs and legs in general feel less destroyed post race or workout. Great for doing rounds at champs and pushing harder in workouts, recovering, then training harder again.
Well if she thinks like Jenny Simpson there ain't no hope of joining that cheat factory.
Guys, hear me out. This may sound crazy but what if we just sit back and enjoyed these performances from today instead of getting all our panties in a bunch about everything?

She just set a national record...
How about that elite 5k last year?
She continues to improve and I’ve never heard about an injury so get off your high horse ?
They mentioned Koko had a knee injury last year during the broadcast
