If your going to call out Eliud then your going to have to also acknowledge:
1.) Eliud Ran 2:04 not only in old school 15mm Nike Streaks but with the Insole partially out and hitting his calf so much it bruised/blistered. He also beat Kiptanui by 81 seconds!
**But kiptanui did not have access to the unglued insole tech*
2.) 3:50 mile PB
3.) Tactical 5k 2003 World Champ in Paris outsprinted El Guerrouj and Bekele.
No-one is doubting that Kipchoge would probably still be the goat without the Vaporfly.
He'd probably be a little less consistent, and I think he could have been beaten by Guye Adola at Berlin. Perhaps having the Vaporfly in training also helped, and he had increased recovery between marathons. But even then, he is the GOAT, shoe or not.
That's not the issue at hand though.
