Clean WR?
She was calm as could be the final laps. Insane composure while Koko was writhing.
Holyyyyy.
Gabriela DeBues-Stafford runs 4:19 and beats Klosterhalfen's meet record....
And comes 4th!
Wowwow the women's 1500 is ridiculously stacked right now and I love it. Deepest 1500m we've ever seen and it isn't even close.
Purrier, amazing 4:16 wow!
First four over the line in women's mile were national records.
Purrier's progression:
2018/19 4:24.88 Reggie Lewis Center, Boston, MA (USA) 26 JAN 2019
2017/18 4:26.55 Boston, MA (USA) 09 FEB 2018
2016/17 4:29.44 New York, NY (USA) 11 FEB 2017
2015/16 4:29.71 Boston, MA (USA) 12 FEB 2016
2013/14 4:36.14 Boston, MA (USA) 02 MAR 2014
Sorry but in high school running I just tend to see a record setting performance where the runner has to run alone at the front differently then when the runner can draft of of faster runners the entire race. It's effective, which is why so many high school records get set in pro races.

Breakthroughs are never normal. Most runners can look at their own best race ever, and feel like it didn't fit the progression of the 4 years prior...

I thought that was just a meat record.
What makes you think she's clean?

Is Purrier better than Houlihan?
not quite yet, but getting closer.
4:16 is worth about 3:58 for 1500 -- Shelby has run 3:54 for 1500. They said on the broadcast that Purrier's coach Mark Coogan still fancies her as a 5000m runner. If she is more on the strength side, I think she is probably in 14:35-14:40 shape for 5k -- within striking distance of Houlihan's AR.
Houlihan is still a WORLD class finisher. But Purrier is just making an already loaded women's 1500m even more crowded.
He's preparing for the Olympics one day. Does he need to run alone fool.

So that’s 3 on the day, 4 if you want to count Nicos HS record
So here is how that race stacks up in history. All time indoor mile marks:
1. Dibaba 4:13.31
2. Elinor Purrier 4:16.85 **Millrose 2020
3. Doina Melinte 4:17.14
4. Konstanze Klosterhalfen 4:17.26 **Millrose 2020
5. Jemma Reekie 4:17.88 **Millrose 2020
6. Laura Muir 4:18.75
7. Paula Ivan 4:18.99
8. Gabriela DeBues-Stafford 4:19.73 **Millrose 2020
It was the second (Purrier), fourth and fifth )Koko and Reekie) fastest women's indoor mile times ever. Debues-Stafford comes 8th now (Muir is 6th and Paula Ivan 7th).
And it was negatively split, they were about 2:10 at 809.
Watch for Jenkins. Think he's due for a good performance.
