Takaways:
- likely the greatest ever women's indoor mile or 1500
- very similar to Dibaba's outdoor 1500 record from Monaco several years ago - great pacing & field went with the rabbit - a big HIGH 5 to Megan Mansy taking them thru in 2:08.+
- so, Purrier's 4:16 5th Ave Mile last Sept was a legit track mile predictor after all
- another super run for Heather MacLean, just a 4:17/1500 runner coming out of Amherst College in 2018 - another graduate of a small Eastern school who has blossomed as a pro - you could say she is the next Elle Purrier
- Jones now 6th on the all-time indoor college list - right behind Purrier & Karissa Schweizer
All eyes glued to tv next week for USA Indoors -- here are the declared/accepted women's 1500 & 3k fields as of today:
1500m:
Heather MacLean 4:08.21
Elinor Purrier 4:16.85
Shelby Houlihan 4:23.68
Karissa Schweizer 4:24.32
Katherine Mackey 4:26.39
Shannon Osika 4:28.79
Colleen Quigley NT (4:22 mile from 2019 indoor win)
3k:
Colleen Quigley 8:44.83
Courtney Frerichs 8:47.31
Allie Ostrander 8:48.94
Vanessa Fraser 8:51.39
Elinor Purrier 8:56.54
Allie Buchalski 8:59.19
Katrina Coogan 8:59.97
Shelby Houlihan NT (8:36.01 from 2018)
Karissa Schweizer NT (8:41.60 from 2019)
Purrier's run today likely will change the face of the Oly Trials 1500 - would be hard for her to pass it up in favor of the 5k as she did last year. Expect her to enter both and if she makes the 1500 team, drop the 5k.
