Pretty good women's mile field put together including Cain running the mile for the first time in ages.
Also, Shannon Osika in 800 & 3k.

Who is rabitting this race?
I predict 4:39.

this. +/- 5
That's a solid field. Maybe racing outside of NYC will do her some good.
Shes seeded at 4:35. That would be a great time.
I guess her 3k time indicates about a 4:42? I'm just taking a stab not looking at a conversion chart. Anything under 4:40 would be solid.
4:42.78 -- not too bad!
Does anyone know what happened to Osika? She was (a fading) second at the bell, but DNF'ed.
Mary's 9:24 from last week was 26 secs off her 3k pr.
So, would expect an approx 13 sec time difference from her 4:28 mile from a few years ago.
Thus, her 4:42.78 for 6th place is in the ballpark for what could have been predicted. Equates to approx 4:23 for an open 1500m. Good baseline to work from. Also, top-6 all broke the meet record.
Boston U has a couple more meets coming up. That may be the fastest indoor facility in the US - having hosted American records from Ruppi & Lomong several years back and Kejelcha's mile record last year. Hope Mary can find a lane in one of those meets.
Also, another outstanding run by Shannon Osika, 2:02.11 to break her own 800m meet/facility record. Looks like she came back later to rabbit the 3k.
4:42 is good?????

I am confused by the DNF for Osika. According to the time sheets, she finished second in 9:14.811, but was DNF. I must be missing something.
Osika was pacing the 3k
Osika ran the 800
So she finished, but her time doesn't count?
I think that her 4:42.78 is slightly better than her 9:24.38.
She would need 4:37.91 to make the top 10 HS performance (all time) in the mile and would need 9:14.5 in the 3000m for a top 10. So I feel that her 4:42.78 is just a little better (marginal).
well she shouldn't book her airline tickets to Eugene just yet. Still a long way to go. If it was a HS girl running 4:42 we would not be thinking she has a shot at the OT so everyone hold you horses. Might be a slight improvement but still a very very long way to go to be part of the national conversation again

I really doubt she has any expectations for this year. She was inactive for quite awhile and if I was here I would take it one race at time.
Cain will struggle to Break 4:45.

exactly, what could she have done 6 months ago? I suspect 4:42 is a big jump from there, and there is plenty of room for further improvement.
Who is her coach? What is the goal here, to race herself back into shape? That's not going to happen. All this racing is not what she needs, she needs to get some quality work done. Maybe spend a month at altitude and transition into some interval work up there. Racing every week when you are not at your desired level of fitness is moronic. What's her rush?
Why don't you leave your phone number on here so Mary can give you a call. You seem to know it all.
