SARS and Ebola were and are worse than coronavirus. The SARS outbreak killed less than 1,000 and Ebola killed over 11,000. The common flu (which people get a vaccine for) kills on average 36,000 Americans per year.
Coronavirus isn't a big deal...
Actually it's only slightly less infectious and lethal than SARS, which was more infectious and lethal than the Spanish Flu, which wiped out up to 5% of the world's population.
The problem is that SARS was contained early, mainly because its symptoms only showed when it was already contagious.
Coronavirus doesn't show its symptoms until up to two weeks after the affected individual has become contagious.
And it's already in multiple countries and every continent.
