Why are Jerry Schumacher’s runners nit racing yet?
Why are Jerry Schumacher’s runners nit racing yet?
The better question is why isn't the man himself racing this season?
Kate Grace announced on Instagram that she's running the 3000 at the UW Invitational this coming weekend in Seattle.

If I were to put money down in Vegas, I'd bet that a number of the Bowerman Babes open in Seattle, AlphaFly spikes and all.

Trials are in 20 weeks.
There were 2 big indoor meets this past weekend. Many former NOP runners did very well. BTC no shows.
I thought the NIT was basketball
They're too licey.

You must be new here.
Have any of you ever noticed that our recent World and Olympic squads, especially on the women's side, feature a disproportionate number of Bowerman Track Club athletes? Could it be that the focus is on getting to those events? I'd rather have my claim to fame be "Olympian" than "one time holder of the third fastest 1500 run at the Reggie Lewis Center".
Too many of you still display the high school/college athlete's mindset or that of the aging local roadie that peaks for the weekly "Wednesday Worlds" group run at your local Fleet Feet.
BTC is a big team. Jerry couldn't send a single runner to either big indoor race last weekend? The matchups between the former NOP & BTC would be very competitive & great for the sport!
Minnesota Distance Elite opened up this weekend and showed some great results! Go MDE!
Dennis Barker is still coming producing results with emerging athletes and not afraid to put his team on the starting line!
I think most people would agree that it is just the difference in how they approach training and seasons. The BTC tends to focus on a few time trial efforts here and there and really show up at championships. The old NOP would race much more often and sometimes chase records and still show up at championships. Just different approaches to try to win medals
Pretty sure Barker's not coaching MDE, it's Chris Lundstrom.

Where was otc? I notice you selectively picked out one specific group. Surely, you understand athletics more than your post implies.
Jerry's athletes choose not to run. Too bad, Duncan.
Sometimes it works well, e.g. last year many BTC runners qualifying for worlds and Schweizer getting big PBs there. Sometimes it does not, e.g. Quigley had very little to show after missing worlds and racing only Pre and US before that, and Frerichs might have done better at worlds with a few more high level races earlier in the season.
But with Doha having been so late in the year and Tokio relatively early, many are skipping indoors completely or only doing a few races, so it's not only BTC this time.

This is an intelligent response. Thank you Portland Hobby Jogger.
The BTC doesn't race. you all should know that by now.
They have decided that they are inferior to the rest of the world who races the Diamond league regularly running fast times and that all their bodies are capable of is endless "altitude training camps", running 1 tactical races at USAs, and then running at worlds if they make (unless you're colleen quigley and you get hurt but don't tell USATF until its too late to send an alternate). They race 2-4 meets a year max.

Personally If I am someone who is a signed athlete and I know there is a great bonus for winning indoor worlds/medal. I am running it. People who know they will go to the olympics can train differently.
I really liked Jessica Hull's response on the running indoor World's actually. shes a 1500 runner but her strategy is to try and make the 3k.
But I do agree to the original point that the bowerman track club does not have to be at every meet to get their goals accomplished..
