I ask because of the high preference for walking and biking as a means of transportation in so many of their cities. It seems like the European way of life is more conducive to overall toner bodies.

Haven’t been to Europe for a long time, and never been to Russia. But there is a marked difference in the percentage of fat people in China versus the U.S.
In my city, I’d estimate 4-5 out of 10 (8 out of 10 at the Golden Corral buffet) are fat. In China it’s maybe 1 out of 20.

I think the disparity in China has more to do with the fact that they are a relic of communism/socialism and things are more tightly controlled over how much one household can purchase. In Cuba, the ration system is well known so you can't really overeat. Not sure if China is the same way.
But you have more people competing for resources which means less food per person. Outside of the very well off you're unlikely to find fat Chinese. Most don't have the clout to bypass tight government restrictions on purcase of consumer goods.
I have a Cuban co-worker who talked about how big we are compared to them and then he talked about the food rationing system. Cubans just don't eat as much.
This Russian woman is 52 and proof that Russians are stronger and fitter than Americans age-for-age:
Russians are Europeans.

Technically Russians are Asians geographically but ethnographically they are Caucasians.
Based on this Vietnam wins.

Nearly every Vietnamese person I've seen in Florida has had huge calf muscles. Considering that there are no mountains or hills in the country, I'm surprised that their population has evolved with such huge calves.

They should move to Wyoming..cowboys like fat calves.
The fact that you put Russians into the mix and your other posts suggest you are a Russian troll.
Russian men lead short, unhealthy lives. Western Europeans are healthier and less obese than Americans and live longer lives. They are also taller on average, an artifact of better prenatal care and nutrition.

This is extreme BS. Most Russians are of fairly normal to tall height. They're not as tall as the Dutch on average but not many people are.

Obviously you know nothing about Vietnam.
From a hereditary standpoint, many Americans ARE euros and Russians.
To lead short, unhealthy lives means that they do not live a long time and are unhealthy.
I am not saying that they are short. You are clearly a second language speaker, Comradeski.
71.6 years
As of 2013, the average life expectancy in Russia was 65.1 years for males and 76.5 years for females. The average Russian life expectancy of 71.6 years at birth is nearly 5 years shorter than the overall average figure for the European Union, or the United States.
I lived in Europe for a couple years. From my experience, they are generally thinner, but not necessarily fitter, and definitely not stronger. There are lots of fitness obsessed people in the US, as well as overweight and healthy people. I met far fewer fitness obsessed people in Europe.

Europeans are healthier and fitter on average than Americans, no doubt about it.
Say what?
My brother's Vietnamese wife is 4-10 and now up to a robust 90 pounds.
NO, she is not huge in any way shape or form. She cannot run at all!
Biking in Russia? It's not a real means of transportation even in both major cities of Moscow and St Petersburg where they are trying to establish biking lanes and stuff like that, let alone the rest of the country.
There are less morbidly obese people, probably because (unlike the US) eating out is not sustainable for the lower income families and thus they don't follow up their meals by a bucket of sugary drinks. The diet is far from healthy though, so obesity is still a problem.
At the same time sports is way less popular as a recreational activity. Running is like an order of magnitude less popular, or maybe two. There are like 2 road races that can approach 5-digit number of participants (and that's only thanks to having 10K and marathon at the same event) and anything over 1000 runners is considered big. Mid-distance hardly even exists. If I were over 40 I could go and become a bronze medalist in Masters 3K for the NW region despite never training for the distance: last year only 2 people signed up for that competition.
I'd say the larger amount of reasonably fit people in the US would outweigh other factor and the average person would be somewhat more fit.
