Still have women as talented at road running as Vivian Kiplagat, Melat Kejeta, Helen Bekele Tola, Gerda Steyn, and Rosemary Wanjiru to still write up. Who next?
So, 25 days to go?

Helen Bekele Tola is next for me, 25yo and ranked 17. Last New Year’s Eve won Madrid 10k in 30.50, seven seconds ahead of Ruth C. April last year, third Istanbul in 66.45. In 2018 was ninth here in 67.47.
Eleventh to cross the line should be Mikesa Mengesha, 19yo and ranked 128. See that tumble after this. More soon.
World Athletics preview contains misinformation: wasihun didn’t win last year’s London marathon
Interesting 3:28 for 1500 Runner Iguidar is running.
Next lady might be Melat Kejeta, who supposedly was running Barcelona last Sunday but didn’t: for whatever reason. More details in an hour.

Several top men gone missing, no more Geremew or Kimeli. Start list not up to usual standards :-(
Interesting absences.
Kudos to Stretti for that info page!
20°C too warm for good times anyway.
last year it was early february, no idea why they changed this...

Do you think that will stop kosgei and fancy?
If the women go with the pacer to 15 k in 45.45, it could be carnage

Last September lined up for her debut at the classic distance with an aim to run 2.22. Finished sixth in 2.23.57. In June won Zwolle in 69.29 and in 2018 was runner up in Vento in 68.41.

not stop, but slow down. ;)
but i was thinking more of the men's race. too warm, no fast runners (compared to other years). might become a low 59.xx winning time.
btw, the prize money isn't exactly high. a bit over 13'000$ for the winner.
Six hours til go. Twelfth to finish might be Vincent Kibor Raimoi, 23yo and ranked 66. Won Milan last March in 60.10.
Next lady should be Vivian Kiplagat, 28yo and ranked 73 as a marathoner. In October was second in Lisbon in 66.55.
Next man may be Gabriel Geay, 23yo and ranked 36. Seventh at Houston in 59.42. Last July won Boilermaker in Utica, 15k in 43.36.
Thirteenth woman could be Yalemzerf Yelahun, 20yo and ranked 28. Last October was second in Delhi in 66.01.

Following are my thoughts in my Saitama marathon thread:

I thought I might use the extra time to share some thoughts about six women who debuted in marathons this year.
The next is the overrated: Melat Kejeta, talked herself up in the lead-up to Berlin. Was only ranked 95 as a road runner with a best half time of 68.41. Ran sixth in 2.23.57.
14th to finish be Abdallah Kibet Mande, 24yo and ranked 99. June last year won at Port Gentil in Gabon, 10k in 27.35. PB over the half is 60.14, third in Vento 2018.
