And no one has any interest in you asa person, either.
So, touche!
By the way, Chez could be a US citizen now if he had the balls to join the Army.
Not everyone has the balls. It aint easy and comes with risk. And he would have to give up his Skechers contract too...
I feel for Ches. It sounds like he really wanted to become a US citizen and compete for the US. Like others have said, there's no guaranteed right of US citizenship, but I wish he had gotten it by now. A lot of us have been following his races for most of the last decade, and were looking forward to cheering for such an exciting runner.
I think this is the right decision; it sounds like citizenship isn't coming anytime soon, and I'm sure he wants the chance to compete in the Olympics. And of course if he doesn't end up competing for Kenya this year, why wouldn't he keep trying to get citizenship, and compete for the US? That's what he's wanted to do all along.
In any case, hope he makes the Kenyan team and runs well for them! And I hope he gets his citizenship at some point, even if we won't get him running for us.
President Trump also said he wants MERIT BASED Immigration so Cheserek 100% Qualifies.
1. Cheserek Runs at A Very High Level, so he has A Special Skill.
Also President Trump said he wanted to stop Criminals (Drug Dealers, Rapist's Murderers etc.) and People who hate America From coming in
2. Cheserek Is Law Abiding, he is high profile enough that if he had done anything , that is a Major Crime it would have been News ESPECIALLY on Letsrun, He Has Not.
3. Whenever The USA is brought up in his interviews, he has said ONLY POSITIVE things, I have NEVER heard of him bashing the USA or Disrespecting the USA by attacking its Symbols (Example burning the Flag)
So by President Trumps OWN CRITERIA he should be Allowed The Honor of Becoming An American citizen.
I SAY GIVE HIM CITIZENSHIP.

USA is literally the least “anti immigration” country in the world. Name one country that takes in more immigrants.
Please tell me you aren't trying to use the US's large population to misrepresent the math. That would be a clear sign of someone trying to skew the truth.
Canada's legal immigration rates are triple that of the US.

+1. If the previous poster thinks the U.S. is anti immigration, they need to study up on the policies of other countries, perhaps starting with our neighbors.
LOL, Canada has triple the legal immigration rate as the US. Maybe you need to study up.
Just a comment for the racists and xenophobics.....
It can be a very long and arduous process to become a US citizen....even more so with the current administration.
Many people choose the military as a means to expedite this process. This has been the case for decades.
If you have a problem with US citizenship processes write your congressman.
If you have a problem with USATF or IAAF citizenship policies then write their leaders.
Beyond that STFU. If you want more "White Americans" representing WCAP then write the top collegiate athletes or become one yourself and join WCAP.

If you aren't a lobbyist, then congress dgaf about you
Good for him for choosing to compete for Kenya. It's a huge miss for the USA of course, but Chez has got to do what is best for him and his career. Here's hoping that he'll be in the mix, whether he's sporting Kenyan or American colors!

Dont know who Alan is, but well said!
What’s the difference between WCAP and all those Qatar Olympic steeple chasers I can’t recall?.......... NOTHING ?
Papas/Sam Parsons/Peter Callahan and those instances I agree, but the WCAP guys became American citizens probably by the hardest means, the armed forces. The legitimately immigrated to the country and they live and train the the US permanently. Unless I’m missing something.
If someone wants to move to a different country, become a permanent citizen and then compete for them, that is fair to me.

So he keeps the USA as a backup... I'm really sick of all these athletes switching allegiances like it's nothing.
Doesn't Alexi Pappas compete as an American when there is American only prize money?
Correct me if I am wrong.

I love it when some of us are called xenophobes. So what? So we want people here that share our culture and beliefs? Why is that bad? Why do we want people here who aren’t like us? Why shouldn’t the people that live here determine who comes in?
WTF is it that causes these idiots to want all these different types of people here? We aren’t stronger we are worse off. If we could take the same population mix of let’s say 1950 vs now which one do you think would have less crime, less problems. Of course it is 1950. Why do you think that is?
You do realize the homicide rates in the 1950's were pretty much exactly the same as homicide rates in the 2000's, right?
Especially weird as America is literally 99% immigrants and their descendants. Whether it was the original european invaders, their black slaves imported from west africa, or the various immigrants since then.
Hell, Trump is half German and half Scottish.
I wonder, what is it about the black skinned man that the European Americans like Trump find so repulsive?

It's a scam. They aren't really deployed to the Middle East to combat against Muslim terrorists.
At least Qatar and Turkey are open about buying Kenyan B-list athletes.
They don't invent fake stories about them being soldiers.
It's an insult to actual US soldiers that these WCAP Kenyans are using the army for personal gains.
There are millions of guys all of Africa who would be happy to be cannon fodder for the US Army, the only reason why these guys came to the US is because they run fast and they can make more money as American runners, not because they are skilled soldiers or something.

He has been here since highschool (10th grade I believe)and likes the life that he can live here. What's wrong with that? In fact he wasn't even a runner when he was in kenya
Isn't this false? Didnt he run like 29:xx for 10k in Kenya as a 15 year old?
There's also the story that he ran like 30 miles to take the test that got him accepted to St Benedict's in the first place.
I love Ches and would love to see him race as an American but saying that he wasn't a runner in Kenya is not accurate.
Saying he was a runner in Kenya isn't accurate. Only one of the two stories you just said can be verified
