You guys a tabloid now? Sad.
You guys a tabloid now? Sad.
"unfit" people I know cannot run more than 10 minutes
40 minutes to do what? 5k?
Also note, the daily mail supported hitler during the war.
It takes me 55 minutes to watch 60 Minutes when I wear my VFs.
I should buy Vaporflys and purposely run slower and then claim they made me slower. I could say I gave the exact same effort and nobody can say I'm lying because you wouldn't know.

This sort of thing annoys me to no end. I work out at a gym full of powerlifters and strongmen, so I have moved past assuming that everyone with a gut and and an overweight BMI is “unfit”. There’s a “fat” powerlifter at my gym who is 300+ pounds with a big belly who just casually tosses in 10-20 dips mid-workout without getting winded.
The guy in this article is not “unfit”. He can run 40+ minutes without stopping, carries a lot of muscle, and would look beast if he decided to cut the extra fat. They also are clearly trying to make him look goofy in those pics.
But ya, Vaporflys are rigged.
A chain smoker at my high school (going way back) could do 20 chin ups very quickly and with little effort however he could not run even one lap on the track.
Was he fit?

Isn’t tabloid a step up? Vaporfly is even helping LRC be better.
Not buying it. No way that guy runs a legit 6:30 mile let alone 6 of them back to back!
stupid article, even stupider to make a thread about it on letsrun. i'd expect the ignorant masses to swallow this but a site dedicated to running?
the first reply absolutely nailed it.

That's some pretty poor evidence. I would expect an unfit guy's time to fluctuate wildly, magic shoes or not.
this.
For the last time, stop calling yourself a journalist.

Do you know where I can pick up a copy? Sounds like the most interesting paper to read on my lunch break.
Breaking news... some fat guy ran 9 minute miles wearing Cheaterflys! He might as well have strapped rocket boosters to his feet.
It’s nice to see someone else with the same experience as me! I tested the Vaporflys for a month, and I really wanted them to be the magic shoe they are purported to be. Yes I ran my tempo faster than in my pegs, but not faster than in my streaks lt4s, and the streaks feel much better. The Next% hurt my hips and knees and just felt really weird to me. I sent them back and continued to do 10ks and 10 mile races in the streaks. MAYBE if I were to attempt a marathon I’d try to get used the Next% because of the cushioning. But I truly don’t think they’re faster than flats for half marathon and down.
wtf does this have to do with the measles vaccine????
have you ever seen kipchoge's pronation?
Title should Read “Man goes from Training Flats to Racing flats and runs faster”. Shocker,
It's always a little unscientific one method for an amateur to test would be to run 800m in the Vapors at X pace, track heart rate. Take a couple of minutes break then do the same in your regular running shoes.
I have a pair and could feel the difference immediately, am pretty sure the advantage it confers is about 10 seconds per mile.
The great cushioning alone is worth the price in my opinion, for preventing injuries. Too bad the shoes burnout so fast, I just use them for short races.
Thread useless w/0 pics of his wife
I bought a pair of 4% at a deep discount and have worn them once, running my easy pace at a fixed heart rate on the track. I first ran a mile in my light xc shoes, then switched quickly to 4% for another mile, then finished another with my xc shoes. There was no difference in pace at the same HR, but I did have to concentrate in order to not speed up in the 4%. It feels to me like at faster paces I can expect to see the 4% give an advantage. Also on roads the outcome mightbe different due to the difference in cushioning, especially over longer distances.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
