I had a similar experience on Saturday night and am going to hijack this thread with no shame.
I don't drink, but I choose to do it on special occasions. You could probably count the number of times I have been drunk on one hand. Just wanted to give a little background so you know I'm not a typical douche.
I was drinking with my friends at a bar and after a few hours and a lot of alcohol we started to leave and go our separate ways for the night. I love talking to new people when I am sober, and that quality only gets amplified when I am under the influence. I must have met over a dozen new people in random scenarios on the streets and in different restaurants. Overall a really great night because I met some very interesting people with cool perspectives.
So I am roaming the streets by myself and walk into an iHop. Keep in mind it was like 3AM and I wasn't even hungry I was just surprised it was open and walked in. Instantly I noticed a short and stocky cop standing with his arms crossed at the front desk. I had no idea why he was just posted up like that as if he worked there, I wouldn't have given it a second thought if the guy was just having a meal. I even said hello to him as I was walking to the back area where the booths and tables are but his face was expressionless and he didn't say anything back. Didn't get hung up on it.
Sat down at a table with three girls who I had never met (yes I know, I am aware this is weird but I was drunk). I greeted them and spoke to all of them respectfully and 1 of them was talking to me a lot, 1 wasn't really interested, and 1 was talking over the backrest of her booth to talk to her friends sitting. Hey, a .333 batting average ain't bad and that's enough to become a Hall of Famer.
One of their guy friends asks if he could sit with us and I don't know why he was asking permission since he knows them better than me, but we are all sitting together. I am going to spare you the filler conversation and give you the sparknotes version of what happened next. The guy was acting real condescending and kept saying to me I'm handsome and that he wanted to kiss me. So naturally, I called him a f*g. He got kind of butthurt (no pun intended) and then I decided it was time to leave because one of the girls at another booth wasn't really having it. I said to him, "sorry about that... f*ggot." Then a girl chimed in and said something a little racist as I was walking out. I retorted, "It's always the big girls that talk the most sh*t." The whole table Ooooo'ed as if it was a sitcom. Realized that girl was the dude's girlfriend and he started to act tough trying to start a fight with me. I wasn't afraid of this guy because he wasn't much bigger than me at all and I'm a runner, but I was leaving on my own when the cop came to make sure I left.
Outside the iHop, I met 3 dudes who were all super cool. One of them was a big guy and they all had a sort of tough hood guy vibe. We were talking for a while about music and the conversation took a turn so I told them what happened. The big dude offers to go in with me and just pretend I showed up with backup to scare the living crap out of this guy and I said sure. Thought it'd be funny.
I just walked in by the desk area, never even got close to the tables and the cop grabs me by the arm and starts shoving me in the back to push me out of this place. He told me to get out and I was already walking out on my own but he had his hands on me super aggressively as if he had something to prove. The whole time I was just wondering, this guy isn't a bouncer, he's a cop. I didn't break any laws, so how is he allowed to touch me right now. Funny enough, the lady who actually worked the desk at the iHop came outside and talked to me very nicely. I told her I think that cop had a Napoleon complex and probably has a 4" dick. She was smiling but told me to go home and I did after saying goodbye to the 3 guys I met.
