7 weeks out from states. have a kid who came into the season with a 1:58 800 pr. Today he ran a 2:32 1k. According to mcmillan, equivalent to a 1:55._ 800. I have been trying not too peak too soon. But we race every weekend, and he is a high and quick responder to speed work. I try to vary it by running him in something different every week, last week was a 3200. and always a 4x4 or 4x8 at the end.
Maybe he has another few seconds to take off if played right.
What should i do to keep from peaking and going stale? nothing but tempos and shorter faster sprints outside the meets?
What would you do, Letsrun?
