I am a HUGE Kipchoge fan and believe that he is the G.O.A.T of distance running. But I have to draw the line there. His defense of the Vaporfly shoe doesn't hold water with reference to Lewis Hamilton's F1 Mercedes race car. First off, F1 regulations are VERY strict as to the tire specifications allowed on all cars. You can't just slap any tire on these cars and go racing. The specs are tightly monitored not only for the tires but also the body, chassis, and engine. All F1 cars are to abide by these regulations and are inspected prior to all races. Also, all racing teams have access to virtually the same equipment and technology and it is little if any difference between cars. Yes, some cars perform differently and better than others, this is due to massive testing which leads to adjustments made by the race crew and driver expertise. The Nike Vaporfly is not a "Typical" racing flat. There are NO rules or regulations for ANY shoes on the market. As I posted a while back this is EXACTLY the same dilemma the PGA Tour was faced with when golf club manufacturers began making drivers that were being made using a softer yet more flexible metal on the face which created a "Trampoline" effect causing the ball to go farther. The Tour quickly shut this down and implemented technical guidelines and restrictions.
Sorry, Eliud but your shoes were "Juiced". Not to say you couldn't run sub 2:00 without the Vaporfly's but once the technology is commonplace and becomes standard with all shoe manufacturers you will begin to see sub 2:00 a lot more under the same conditions you had.
