Race course is flat & I wasn't completely dead after the tempo. 60 MPW training w/ 2 workouts + 14-16mile LR per week

One workout certainly isn't enough to tell you.
Try to hold that pace? It's early in the year, so you have plenty of time to try again if that turns out to be wrong so don't over think it. Good luck!
Had some other good workouts but I felt like this was the best one I've had so far

Ok, still would help to know other workouts for predictions though
13 mile long run with 4xmile at 5:12 cutting down 4s per mile to 5:00 for the last then 4x200m. All continuous and active recovery
11 mile workout with 2.5 miles at HPM, 5 min jog, 5x1k at 10k pace with 200m jog, 5 min jog then another 2.5 miles at HMP (5:18/mile is what I did for HPM). Also all continuous
Long runs usually even pacing at 6:20 pace
*HMP not HPM
1:09:10, based on the Hansons’ half marathon guide. Good luck.

Got a link to where you got that conversion?

Why does it matter what time of year it is?
Sorry, I don't. I took their half marathon training book out from the library the other day. Their Tempo Pace Chart says if you're aiming for 1:09:30 you should run your 5-10 mile tempos at 5:18s. I just interpolated from there. It's an incredibly unscientific backward way to find a goal pace.

that book is meant for people running probably 1:20 to 1:50 for a half marathon and then things get hairy when you're out of that range.
doing 8mi at HMP honestly wasn't that hard when I was an 81min half marathoner. heck...when I was a 1:34 half marathoner I pretty much ran close to that pace for easy runs. Nowadays at a 71min guy I could probably do 5mi max at that pace by myself, and more often than not I'll just break it up into chunks to be able to get in more volume.
I'd say 68:20s is likely, but possibly as fast as 67:50.
Thanks, thats actually really valuable knowing that!

The second half of the sentence explains why I feel like it matters. You obviously disagree and that is fine. Half marathons are much more forgiving than the marathon. If he(assuming) paced it wrong he can come back in a few weeks and give it another shot with the right pace. Early in the year also means many good races to choose from in the near future. Seems like if he is unsure of himself then this would be a good one to gain confidence and not worry too much about getting it wrong.
I second what reed said. As I have become faster it is much harder to hold MP and HMP. Back when I was a 3hr full guy I could do 14+ mile runs every weekend at faster than MP. Now it is a big big effort to do that.
Let us know how it goes!
Just hold that pace it’s not much further, or you just blew your load a week before the race. No reason to do an 8 mile tempo the week before a half.
You should be able to go past 5 miles at HMP if you build it up correctly... it shouldn't be that taxing

I did it 11 days before the race not 7, I never do a big workout with less than 10 days left. Just some sharpening stuff in the next week.

1:10:58 according to Daniels Runsmart calculator. That's if you assume the 8 miles was a race effort.

It wasn't a race effort
