I've run about ~20 mpw for the last two years. I'm not a world-beater, but it's something I love and it helps my head and my body feel good.
I've always been a bit injury-prone due to some tight hip flexors and hamstrings. It seems like my last 4 pair of Hoka Clifton's have masked that, because I've been able to run injury-free throughout that time. I wore through my last pair this month.
A couple weeks ago I cheaped out and got some Saucony Ride Iso's one sale for $30 bucks. It just so happens I have my first case of runner's knee that's pretty painful. In general, I'm much more sore post-run with these shoes.
What gives? Did the ultra-cushioning of Hoka's trick me into thinking I could actually do this long-term? What now? Go back to the Clifton's? I'm feeling a little bit lost and frustrated. I want to be able to succeed on my own, not because I'm wearing pillows on my feet. Interested if others have any perspective.
