Alright, if the VF gets banned, what are you all running your 10Ks to marathons in? The Adios 6? NB 1400?
What about shorter stuff, like a 5K? Streak LT, something different?

I think it will depend on the fate of the VF knock-offs, if shoes like the Hoka CX, Saucony Endorphin Pro, and Sketchers GoRun Speed Elite (and the new Adidas Adizero Pro, if that’s ever released to the public), which have lower stack heights, are allowed to stick around, then I think a lot of people will just switch to one of those. Otherwise, it would be back to the standard racing flats, like Nike Streak, Adidas Adios & Takumi Sen, Reebok Run Fast Pro... etc.
Alphafly. Why would I stop using them, who would bother trying to stop me? I'm not in line to make a major podium. I've never tested positive for PEDs, either.
Looks like nike is already coming out with a lower stack height zoom X flat, apparently good up up to half marathons. Not sure about fulls, probably either adios or if one of the other companies' prototypes (e.g. endorphin pro) is under the stack height limit.
the saucony shoe is not going to be under the stack height of the original vaporfly...but might be under that of the Next%.
apparently the Asics and Adidas protos are the only ones with somewhat reasonable stack heights. the saucony, nike, and brooks shoes are all very tall. the skechers looks thinner as well.
to answer the original question...if we just want to find the best non-carbon plated racing flat for 10k-42k, it would probably be the Nike Streak or Adidas Adios. However, some of Adidas' new flats seem even better and don't have any plates or pebax...talking about the RC 2.0 and the Adizero pro.
for the shoes I've actually owned...the best for 10k to 42k would be either the Nike Lunarracer 3 (not sure if I've raced beyond 10k in it or have run in it beyond 12mi) or the 2020 Brooks Hyperion Tempo which isn't out yet but there have been photos on instagram of it. it's more of a lightweight trainer but it weights about 7oz in my prototype 10.5 so it would be under 6oz for M9. seems pretty durable too, I have 150mi on mine and they look great still. they use a foam like the skechers razor, sort of like hyperburst but firmer
