The only feel good thing about these Trails. Well done Molly.

Can I get a 'FVCK YEAH'?
yea - wow good for Molly
Most of the pundits failed miserably in predicting these outcomes. Way to show them Molly.
Did I hear Masback say she comes from a family of 32??!
This aged well ...

Assuming she finishes around where her 10k/half marathon fitness level indicates she'll probably be in that 10-20th place range. I wouldn't call her a legitimate dark horse because she's never run a marathon and her half isn't elite enough (like a 67/68) to have crazy expectations for the full like a 2:24.
So you're saying to be a legitimate dark horse you have to... be a favourite?
Cause anyone who has run a 67/68 is a favorite contender, not a darkhorse
She's clearly an aerobic runner that gets better as the races get longer. Without using a calculator, I'd say her 5k/10k times are about a 2:26 equivalent. Given the trials isn't paced, that could put her in with a shot
Great post & prediction. She said multiple times hard intervals got her injured, and what works best for her is a high mileage approach with work on threshold/tempo paces and quality LRs. She ran 100-120 mpw in preparation for this marathon, and being the aerobic beast/monster she is was able to have an outstanding performance.
Also one of very few pro runners who openly share 100% of their training routine on Strava. You will hear a lot from the young Seidel in the next years in the marathon, her prime distance.

Her half marathon PR is 1:10:27. I think it'll be a good experience for her, but the women's marathon is way too deep right now. Let's talk in 2024 after she's run a few marathons.
Haha, nice take idiot.
Well, at least you can counthttps://media1.tenor.com/images/f6be2754a99d6e6755876a50c99c4cce/tenor.gif
I was in the bar where her parents were watching at the end. It was amazing to see the joy in their reaction.

Good luck to Seidel.
Unfortunately she is like hundreds of white female distance runners. Mentally, emotionally and physically fragile. Everyone knew she had eating disorders. The shoe companies knew as well. I don't recall her running at any U.S. Nationals while at Notee Dame. Has she ever made a U.S. team?
Good to hear she is better. Good luck.
This aged well ...
Like I said. Good to hear she is healthy and good luck.
Good for Molly she made a team.
I'm an old runner Domer and know some of the women who ran with Molly at Notre Dame. They said she is extremely smart, and sweet, and tough as nails... and an aerobic beast. Like a lot of those who are best in their fields, she is a perfectionist. With young women in distance running, this can lead to body image problems, an obsessive desire to please everyone around you, including your coach, and cause physical and mental issues. There is no relaxing, it's getting up every morning to prove you're good enough... or even a good person. Until you break down. It sounds like Molly has accepted who she is and knows what is good for her, and has a promising future. It's called growing up. Good for her and Go Irish.
That's awesome.
