I'm not sure why everyone is so hyped for a Bekele/Kipchoge Duel. Does no one know that Bekele is already 0-3 in the marathon against Kipchoge. Bekele has gotten 2 marathons right his entire career. Kipchoge has been right nearly every time. Bekele may have the greatest range ever, but still won't be the greatest marathoner.
Because Bekele , when he shows up good, is the best.
You can call him inconsistant, injury prone in his 20's, it is true. But when he is on, he is better than all the others and better than any Kipchoge's potential challenger.
Add that to the fact that Bekele used to manhandle Kipchoge on track and XC and you understand why people think Bekele can take down Kipchoge if he shows up in the shape he had in Berlin.
I don't disagree. I would much rather watch Kipchoge have a chance at losing than watching a SOLO effort, But the key phrase is "If he shows up" which since moving to the marathon is a big "IF". For me it's just hard to get excited, if he had only 2 or 3 marathons under his belt and no DNF's, maybe I could get as excited as everyone else.
