I saw Jackson Browne this summer in the Woodstock area, the guy' s still got it! His voice still sounds like it did in the 70s! The opener was sick so he played two full sets

Devo 1983. The concert was almost 3 hrs. The played songs from Oh No Its Devo in front of a video screen for the firs half and then put on E-Domes and played everything from Mongoloid to Whip It the second half. Every guitar or keyboard solo ended in aleatoric cacophony with the crowd going nuts. Mark Mothersbaugh swung from a rope from the balcony to the floor of the theater and had people in the crowd do the "are we not men?" "we are devo" call and answer. I have never seen a band play with so much energy and pure insanity. Every band I have seen since then just look tired by comparison.
I also saw Devo in '83 and my experience was identical to what you described. Where did you see them? Gainesville for me.
I have seen many great concerts including Eagles, BB King, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac,......
One more recent group I saw that I thought gave a super show was the Lumineers. I saw them about 2 years ago.
Jethro Tull (my first concert) - 1978 at the original Chicago Stadium. They ROCKED!
The Police / XTC in 1979 at the Aragon Ballroom Chicago -one of the first times for the Police in the states
Pretenders (original members) at the Aragon
The Smiths at the Aragon
The Clash at the Aragon (Combat Rock tour)
Counting Crows - about 20 shows (I know the guitarist) with Goo Goo Dolls/Maroon 5/Live/Jacob Dylan, etc, etc)
Grateful Dead - 2 x with Jerry
Dropkick Murphys/Social Distortion/The Cure/Patti Smith/Weezer/Naked Raygun - Riotfest Chi.
Primus/Pixies/Pearl Jam - San Jose
Nine Inch Nails - San Fran
Dave Matthews - Berkeley - the Greek
The Ramones, Hartford, CT 1986
The Clash Hartford, CT 1984
Black Flag and The Proletariat Boston 1984
Misfits Boston 1983
Minor Threat NYC 1982
Dead Kennedys 1982 Trenton NJ
The first big concert I attended was at Madison Square Garden in, as I recall, October 1978, when Jethro Tull played three consecutive nights there. One of the performances was televised though I think I attended one of the other two. To me, this was the golden age of Tull in the late 1970s with its best group of musicians. The following are from the televised performance:

Rolling stones a long time ago.
That's the same year I saw them. Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, AZ. Absolutely agree... best show ever.

I agree, Colleen wins the thread! Lots of great contributions, thanks folks.
I am definitely not one of the "old timers "
But I can definitely relate, my dad brought me up since I was a baby listening to all sorts of rock and roll from lots of different times...
I myself am a huge huge music fan, to the point that I don't really think I could pick a number one favorite band, album, song, or even decade?
So many amazing bands over the years.. I cant pick favorites really.
But anyway, I haven't seen as many concerts as I would have liked too but also... a lot of the best rock bands of all time, I'm just to young to have seen or be alive during most of these bands hayday...
Also for my list.. iv been to quite a few music festivals, witch usually have around 30 to 40 bands in like 2 days.
So even though I might have seen a band play for 3 or 4 songs... I'm not sure that this would count as "seeing the bands concerts"?
Anyway.. my favorite concerts so far?
-Red hot chili peppers (seen twice)
-Rolling stones (still awesome for oldtimers)
-Motley crue (closing set at rockfest 2014)
-Metallica (also at rockfest)
-Billy tallent (played a get show)
The next few are punk bands.....
And the concerts are wild, venue's are punk clubs with not really much security, so people can jump on stage and jump or flip into the crowd/moshpit ... very fun experiences
-Cancerbats (underground punk band)
-The casualties (hardcore punk band)
-Anti flag (underground punk band)
-Pennywise (skater punk band)
However most concerts iv been too are punk, metal, and DJ type shows with artists I'm not sure people from this forum will know?
And a lot are like I said, from festivals.. so I'm not sure they'll really count for this question?
But here is a list of my top ten bands I wish I could have seen (in there prime).
Guns and Rose's
Nirvana
Led zeppelin
Acdc
Jimmy Hendricks
Slipknot
Ramones
Aerosmith
Tom petty
The doors
I know some of these bands are still around... but not like how they were ate their peak.
Also there are just a ton of bands around these days I'd still love to see if I had the chance.

Shut the Front Door! I was at that show! I caught a bass pick from DerekSmalls/Harry Shearer. If I remember correctly, the night ranger guitarist came on and played with them and Stonehenge was too big to fit on stage.
I was actually going to say that one. I also saw the Cranberries and Counting Crows on campus at CSU Stanislaus in like my second week at the school I'd only heard one song by the Cranberries and had never heard of Counting Crows yet. I was absolutely mesmerized by Dolores but the Crows sucked....lead singer so drunk he was falling off stage.

Awesome! Yes was an Athens show for me
Had a great music experience today with a link to running. We are in Rome visiting friends and doing some shopping during the January sales. We finished up downtown and were walking alongside the forum areas toward the metro station at the Colosseum and stopped to listen to a couple of guys play. One guy was on an electric violin and the other guy playing a sax. They were really good, and I love street music, so this was capping the day for me after my wife had demolished the credit cards. Two things happened that made me feel great. First, as people do, lots of folks were coming up and throwing money into the violin case. I know there’s nothing particularly unusual or special about that, but for some reason when people don’t have to pay for something but they do, spontaneously, just because they appreciate what they’ve been given with no expectation to pay, it warms my heart, and makes me feel better about people. I know, I’m a soft touch... But then, after 15 minutes or so, the piece de resistance.... a group of local runners jogged by, and in their group was a guy running one one leg. He had walking sticks in both arms, but he was running with this group by hopping along on one leg. I’d never seen that before. As we walked away, 10 or 15 minutes later we caught the group coming the other way, and there he was again, still running along, in his way, with his group of friends.
That made a good day a great day for me!
And I mean he only had one leg. The other was missing just below the hip.
Definitely attending this concert...is this the first online one of it's kind?
