I DNF’d like a total punk. Quit with ~3 laps to go after 5:12 and 5:18 for the first two miles. Just felt like crap and figured I wasn’t going to PR so I pulled the plug. It was some weak cheese and I regretted it immediately. Especially humiliating because Alan MF Webb was in the crowd.
Ah damn. But I'm glad to hear it was nothing worse than a bad day. I'm sure Alan would forgive you - that's cool that he was at the meet (I assume b/c UA LIttle Rock was there?).
Indoors can be tougher than road racing and outdoor track in some ways b/c you have that incessant feedback every 200m - when things are going the wrong direction you are reminded much more frequently. Sounds like you might've still barely eeked out a PRd but I imagine that last 1200m would've been rough.
Best of luck down the road
