He beat Cheptegei’s WR today in Valencia with no pacers, no vaporflys. Absolute beast!

It's the shoes.
THEY NEED TO BE BANNED!

I think they were looking for him a couple of weeks ago but he went to help Timmy plant some potatoes in the south patch.

valencia is well known for short courses (from 10k to marathon)
Do you have any links to affirm this statement?
I doubt the course was actually short. You can measure distances on google maps, and I measured it as 10.28 km (trying my best to measure the tangents). Given the times run there, it certainly could not have been that long. It is a bit difficult to tell the exact route that the race takes after diverging from Carrer de I’Alcalde Reig and going behind the arts palace and hemisphere, so I think that was probably the source of my inaccuracies. The 9k point on the route matches up perfectly with the google maps measurement.
Here is the course map, in case anyone else is interested in trying to measure it for themselves:
https://www.valenciaciudaddelrunning.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/10k-2019.pdfI matched his cadence to a metronome at different points in the race, and I got a pinch over 200 both times (~202). That's mile cadence for most elites. Obv there will be those with greater cadence for the marathon (like a number of Japanese runners).

His cadence looks like he's running a 1500m race
I did a 30 second count on his arms, got 49, so 98 cadence/196 spm. Quick, but not that unusual. Have seen marathoners with quicker cadence. (mine too, though I don't see it as a positive, and have been working to slow it down)
This comment makes sense
I hope we don’t read a story about him getting busted for doping in the near future
instead of ban the shoes, which might be good for he runner's legs,
reset the records, pre shoes, and after.
also you want to reset the woman's records, where people that were not tested don't qualify for the new records.
reset the records.
i mean, if a woman runs a 4 minute mile but is not tested in the training leading to the result,
it's not certified,
Kapish?
I’d wear a flat for a 10K over a vaporfly anyways?

but people on this website think the shoe is like a trampoline that gives at least 4% economy increase which means at least 2% speed increase, and is the same in 10K and marathon. And these new crazy fast times must be the shoes because training just doesn't get better overnight?

Track also has you turning 50% of the race so if the road is relatively straight that helps
Why do you think the 5th Avenue Mile always produces such fast time
Because it is a net downhill.

yea, everybody knows that shoes like Next% are mainly marathon shoes.
Is the second half of this race downhill?
I ask because we have seen a few road races now where a super fast time is run if the second half is downhill. That's not saying the overall course is downhill, just the second half.
I have a theory that if a race is slightly uphill for the first half and slightly downhill the second, a runner has a better chance of beating their track or flat road race time.
Running hard uphill whilst you are fresh often doesn't lose that much time, however running downhill whilst fatigued is a big help to keep the pace.

not exactly. There is a Strava segment for this race.
https://www.strava.com/segments/19677570Some of the replies to this are amazing.
Couldn't possibly run that fast without Vaporflys.
He is doped
Is it adidas pro??
Course is short.
He smashed the WR in traditional racing flats, you know those shoes that should be worn for RACING.
Nike have done a remarkable job brainwashing the masses. Anybody wearing a Vaporfly for anything but a marathon needs to have a hard look at themselves.

Hi Cleo.
Don't come crying to me when he's busted like all your other heroes.
Hey Cleo. If that does indeed happen it will bring down his coach, a certain Bro Colm, who, for reasons that escape me and that are not obvious at all, Letsrun and other Western haters of Kenyans consider trustworthy.

news? no. it's called marketing. and it works fine. it always did and it will do, not just for running shoes.
Road Races should not be eligible for world records!
They are eligible for world bests.
