And what does Wanders' slow last 5k has to do with Kipruto's?

He's a Kenyan. After yet another champion falls, in Kipsang, what more needs to be said. I await the news of a bust.
Totally #2thegills
The second half of any event is never record eligible because there is a rolling start, as well as no pre assigned start time
Typical letsrunners, they love to whine about the shoes, but now since the shoes were not used, it must be the doping.. of course.. letsrun goes home devastated.

He beat Cheptegei’s WR today in Valencia with no pacers, no vaporflys. Absolute beast!
https://www.worldathletics.org/news/report/valencia-10k-2020-kipruto-chepkirui-world-recLRC note: Spencer Nel of adidas has confirmed he was wearing the adidas Takumi Sen shoe- fall/winter 2019 version
Now you guys have nothing to say about the %s I love it. Small victory for this stupid website.

Rhonex has the potential to run with the Ugandan but lacks the tactical instinct right now to challenge for Gold. Geoffrey K. (2 time xc champion and 3 time 1/2 marathon champion) 6who just won his 7th Kenyan Prison title could threaten the Ugandan but has switched focus to 1/2 marathon and marathon. I feel if he can remain healthy Rhonex will impress this year at the Olympics if Geoffrey K passes on the 10000m. Rhonex should battle Ugandan to the line and I feel Geoffrey would have a great chance at the Gold but mostly won't focus on the track 10000m
The Ugandan has a name.
Loving big dave22, trollism and Armstronglivs so butthurt.
Well done Rhonex!

+1
Or the course is short
This is as impressive as Bekele's 12:59 for the second half 10000m some years ago.
I have some doubts on 5k and 10k road records . It's better to just have course records and world record for the track.
Rhonex's stride is so compact, strong, and efficient. Phenomenal talent
If he can run this fast on the roads why is the track so much more difficult for him? Makes no sense.
Track is perfect 10k, road run (besides measurement issues) has inclines and the runner doesn't follow a perfect course either.

Hi Cleo.
Don't come crying to me when he's busted like all your other heroes.

Why are they saying he broke the 5k record. Isn't the record sub 13? Carlsbad?
I'm celebrating it as being a beautiful showcase of running.
His cadence looks like he's running a 1500m race

You run faster on the track. Geb's 10k on the road was 27:02. Kipruto should at least be able to get below 26:00 based off that. It's crazy but Bekele's record is numbered!
That's wrong.
Now, you run faster on the road than on the tracks. It has been reversed.
Geb's record is based on a time where the marathon record was 2:06, now it's 2:01.
The shoes have broken the road, add that the super fast road, shady measuring and the straight lines and you have the road faster than the track.
Fact: both Cheptegei and Kipruto have better record on the road than on the track.
Other fun fact, Kipruto record on the 5000m in the track is 13:07
Add in the fact that they barely run 10k on the track anymore and when they do no one is going for a world record time
Really at all on distance if you think about it this decade
800m - Amos has taken shots for a very fast time
1500m - Even if Kiprop did it, his doping positive doesn't look good, Timothy has gone after fast times, but no dedicated shots
3000m- Maybe once they do more 3k's on DL, Kijelcha or Barega, but no one this decade
3k ST- a few attempts yes
5000m- we begged Farah but he wouldn't
10000m - same w Farah + Brussels hasn't had one since '11, Cheptegai or Kipturo are rounding into form though for the 2020's
His forward lean and a hamster wheel below for Max efficiency!
What's so incredibly profound is the Takumi Sen's Record:
1.) Jepkosgei: first sub 1:05 HM. Debut nycm champ
2.) Keitany's second half 2018 nycm victory run in 1:05!
* There may be another variable at play here perhaps these runners mechanics, tendons, tissues are so strong and efficient that a minimal shoe optimizes these inherent factors.

Track also has you turning 50% of the race so if the road is relatively straight that helps
Why do you think the 5th Avenue Mile always produces such fast time
Or Dubai Marathon, it's basically an out and back if my memory serves me correctly

It’s net downhill
