I think you can train 800 guys and get some of them better at 1500 but it may hurt their 800. He's never shown anything at 1500 that would indicate he'd medal. So at least do the 800 this year and next. If he wants to try 1500 for 2024, then have at it.
At 800, even this year which I considered to not be a great year for him, he made the World final.
Yes,the OP assumed he'd be contending for gold but that's what a lot of people assume. We always assume people will get better and better but in reality there often is just a better phenom coming through to snag the gold.
Mo Farah is the exception, not the rule.
