Any idea if an update to the ZF is coming soon? Going to get a new pair but might wait a few months if there's an update coming up.

I want to say that the ZF3 came out in July or August of 2019, so you might be waiting a while

and ZF Flyknit in September '18. So they will release an update either in summer or in fall. Probably in summer like they did with the ZF 3.
I'm assuming it will be relatively soon as I was able to get a pair of Zoom Fly 3s from Nike's website for under $100 right after Christmas (already discounted, plus an additional 25% off).
I believe they usually do an initial discount ~90 days from the update and then an additional discount ~30 days from the update. So, perhaps an April/May update? This is all just a guess.

they are discounting the shoes because they are releasing much more colorways than before. The sneaker culture is there now. They have to sell older colorways at lower prices and are still making money when it is done on their own website because there are no middlemen.

They were discounting certain colors of the ZF3's soon after they came out. Back in September I got a pair of 3's for less than $90.00 on Nike.com. I don't think the discount schedule can be a reliable indicator of a new release.
It's on Nike's B2B for future ordering. Update looks interesting, they say they're putting a CF plate in it. There weren't any actual images of the shoe so it may not be coming out until the summer probably the same time as the Pegasus 37.
ZF3 already have a carbon fiber plate in it. The difference between their offerings is: ZF comes with plate but no VF foam, Pegasus Turbo comes with VF foam but no plate, and VF comes with both plate and foam. I believe the next iteration will be adding air pockets to the VF foam and plate combo for the Olympics
