A lock to be picked.
He had a bye last year and was picked because he was world champion eventhough he has had a poor season due to injury. If he is not injured, he will be there.
And he will be extremely hard to beat. He has an incredible last 1k and a great last 400m.
Has Mo Farah an automatic qualification for being the reigning olympic champion?
I don't think so as I have not found about it. Otherwise, he will have to run 27:28 somewhere to qualify for the 10 000m
Please keep writing Rhonex off, guys. Yeah, right. He won't be a factor in Tokyo.
Hey guys, you've all gone quiet. Still think he won't factor?

What changed?
He ran that ultra fast Valencia road race.
We are talking about standard track event with world class competition. Has he developped a kick?

Yep, it would be dumb to rule out the bronze medalist of last year.
But as I watched the replay of last year final, Kipruto was unable to stay behind Cheptegei and challenge for more. He would need to try to time trial his way to a victory and it would not be a guarateed win either.

your comprehension of what going on is the factor here. No one said Kipruto is not a factor and many say he can medal....but the title specifically asks about Gold and just because he had an amazing road 10km doesn't mean he's a lock for gold this summer...could he win? sure it's possible but he's going to need a kick to do it and haven't seen that yet and until he does, i wouldn't consider him the favourite.

Yes, it seems that to win the gold he needs to Ayana the the others competitors ==> mainly Cheptegei, Kejelecha, Gebrhiwet and even Farah.
Do you even believe he could outckick them?
