I am a very strong proponent for equality for women, but I have to say that aside from maybe 1% of the female population, I don't think it makes sense to require women for the Draft.
I just read a book about 9/11 and there were at least a dozen comments from women - even some 1st responders - about how the genders quickly reverted to roles that we traditionally think they hold. Just interesting to read considering the current societal opinions. Not sure it applies to your question, but interesting nonetheless.
I don't think the Draft is coming back.
Last point first: the draft is not coming back. Drafting every 18 year old male would be a huge waste of time and money. Today's military is pretty technical and specialized. It would be stupid to spend all that time and money to train soldiers (using that as a generic term for all military) only for them to leave as soon as they can.
It makes a lot of sense for women to join the military though. While few can meet the physical standards set forth for males in the military on the battlefield, the number of military personnel who actually are in combat is relatively small. It is bigger in non-traditional wars, but still there are a lot of people in behind the lines areas. Women can just as easily be mechanics, medical personnel, logistics and tons of other jobs. As we saw in WWII on both the military and civilian sides that freed men up to be on the front lines.
