She's a sophomore. Very close to national record in mile and 1500 (en route), I think.

It’s Jan 5th clowns. Guarantee Tuohy has zero competition come championship races.
She will run sub 60 in the 400 and PR in the 600, 800, and 1000 this year if she continues running those events. I predict that on the SMR leg (if she does it) she will run 2:05-2:07 barring a sub-4:35 effort in the DMR before.
Love that she is running these shorter distances. This is really good for her development. She won’t win any big races in these but will help her a lot come outdoor.
I’m assuming she’s aiming to qualify in the 5000 for Olympic trials ?

I’d say just you. No one is commenting on anyone’s appearance, only achievements. If you’re the only one with a problem, I would ask yourself what makes you feel so uncomfortable.

Not competitive at all with Cain over the 1500. Cain was a full 10 seconds faster than Tuohy at the same age. 4:04 to 4:14. That's a huge amount. Tuohy's not a miler. She's a long distance runner. Very similar to Hasay.
True Cain is well ahead of Tuohy at 1500m, [although Tuohy's 4:33 mile is equivalent to a 4:12 - 4:13, 1500, not 4:14]

4:14 is Tuohy's listed 1500m PR not a conversion. Cain was also about ten seconds faster than Tuohy over the mile indoors -- 4:28 to 4:39.
Technically you are correct and 10 seconds seems like an eternity. Amazingly, Cain, Efraimson and Tuohy are still the 3 fastest 1500/milers for high school girls. Out of the million or so girls who have run the mile, I figured being in the top 3 counted as being competitive. Surprisingly, Tuohy's 4:33 is actually the mile record as neither Cain nor Efraimson ever ran a fast mile, when they were blitzing those 4:04 1500's.
It's easy to forget just how good Cain and Efraimson were, but it's also easy to write off Tuohy as an aerobic monster, when she holds the high school record in the mile. Tuohy has also never run a 1500 or mile that was not an all high school race, whereas Cain and Efraimson ran their times in Diamond League Pro Meets.

The mile is an event that's 80% aerobic. Aerobic monsters, let's say a very good 10k runner will still have an exceptional 1500/mile time just based off their aerobic strength.
If you want to check Tuohy's speed, let her run a 100-400m or watch her sprint finish at the end of a slow (tactical) mile/1500 or 5k race. It is likely she will get toasted based on her current speed abilities, and keep in mind that large improvements in basic speed are highly unlikely.
What she can do however, is be able to run a great 800/1500m time based of her phenomenal aerobic strength. There are many runners that do that without having great natural speed.
You all obsess over female high school runners with an obsession not seen with male high school runners. What gives? Are you all insecure and trying to hard to convince yourselves, in a subtle manner, that she's not all that fast and that you could beat her?

Touhy is actually 7th on the blended list, Kate Murphy, Christina Aragon, Elise cranny and Katie rainsberger are all ahead of her with the 1500 conversions.
It seems that there is an attraction to Tuohy. She is a great runner but the defensiveness that is displayed to any insinuation that Tuohy is possibly not the best of all time, is creepy.
2:49 is comparable to a 2:10 800 m or 4:25 1500, in my opinion that is nothing special, but ok for a 3000/5000 m runner this time of the year.
A 1:37 600 m is weak though. Maybe worth a 2:15 at best.
This clearly indicates a lack of basic speed or middle-distance stamina / power.

Right now there is a 4 page post going on about Nico Young and he hasn't even run any races. Tuohy has now raced the last 2 weekends. People are going to talk about it and it's not creepy or an obsession. It's good that people are discussing the top HS athletes in our sport.
Now there needs to be no further discussion on that.
To the races, I honestly feel like both are fine efforts for her. As has been mentioned she doesn't have a ton of speed. I disagree with some that say she can't improve that. I believe if it's something she works and focuses on it can improve in the next 6-8 years. That is why I believe it is a complete waste of time for her to try to run the Olympic Trials this summer, she isn't going to qualify and why ruin your summer of training for your first year of XC. She just isn't ready to run a 62 (closed 1k in 69, closed 600 in 66) at the end of a 5K which is what she would need to do( Yes I understand she hasn't said her goal is to qualify). But anytime you focus on something like the trials you are choosing to focus on the short term and not on the long term. This is also why I felt she might have been better off at a school with a 1500 reputation to help build that speed. But that can be done anywhere and we'll see how it goes.

There isn't a male as good as her currently and the last two boys hs runners who were on her level if not better were Drew Hunter/ Verzbicas. they got just as much if not more speculation on these boards.

Looks like several people on a HS running forum commenting on a HS runner. Pretty much what you would expect to be on there don't you think.
Why are you reading threads on a HS running forum if you are not interested?? Obviously you have an issue with people commenting on a female runner...I think that makes you the one with the issue. Grow up just a little.

Oh hey...again, here is the resident Dudek-lover posting trash on anything to do with Tuohy. Actually don't see people getting defensive on here .... well until morons like you start posting your normal trash.
Dude, just start a Dudek thread if you feel neglected.

If the 1500m record holder could have walked the last 109m and still beat the mile record, then it isn’t much of a record.
Guys Tuohy gets a lot of attention cuz she deserves it!
She's the greatest High School runner ever!
And she's doing it in a time with tons of social media and internet coverage
She also is a cool kid who works hard and has a nice balance to how she handles herself
I I'm glad to see someone like Tuohy get attention who's working hard to develop a talent

Where are you from that you have such high standards? I havent seen many HS girls run these times , especially right after Christmas break.
