You actually watch this crap?
Not a boomer. Boomer TV was awful too. TV was trending up with shows like The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, early run of House of Cards and maybe the first season West World. Now it seems to be backsliding again. When was the last show that was in the same league as those? Now it just seems to be flooded with cheap superhero knockoffs, bad over-stylized dramas and some teeny-bopper crap with zero depth.
So you name 4 or 5 series, a couple of episodes from two other series, and then suggest that 95% of stuff today isn't good? You point to less than 0.0000000001% of tv shows as being good.
So nothing's really changed. There have always been a standout series or show here or there and then a bunch of other stuff we don't like. It's not like you named half of the week's prime time tv from thirty years ago.
In fact you only named stuff from the last twenty years. And of them, Breaking Bad ended just six years ago. That's pretty damn current in the world tv. On top of that GOT ended six months ago.
I agree that majority of stuff on tv is fluff, fast food, but I think what those shows like The Wire and Sopranos did is really open the door to production companies making high quality content. So at least now we get SOME great stuff. It does get buried in the waves of that ocean of content but there is some really high quality film and television produced today.
