It's not great, but a few are ok wrote:
Everything Sucks was good and it got cancelled after the first season. Sex Education second season is coming soon. Insatiable was awful. Obviously Stranger Things, but it's incredibly overhyped because it's one of the few good programs.
I think Stranger Things is a bit symptomatic of some of the issues. The first two seasons were amazing, then it tried to both up the scale and broaden the appeal and it kind of killed the magic. A lot of season three seemed to be trying too hard to be blatantly GIFable and Tweetable, rather than just do what it did well in season's 1 and 2, which was focus on character and story in a small town setting.
Where as season 1 mixed in D&D and arcades in seamlessly with the story as natural world building, season 3 was marked by a cringe-worthy, painfully long musical ode to Neverending story that seemed ridiculously forced.
I don't think the point of that scene was story, but more for something for people to share on twitterr "OMGZ i cannot believe they did that!! 80's nostalgia Rulz!" Also the little sister lines were obvious GIF farming, as well as all the yelling by Hopper. Maybe having a character yell everyline makes for more amusing GIFS, but it make a horrible viewing experience.
It just seemed to be trying way too hard to tap into more and more nostalgia fans rather than just focusing on what it does well.
another case of an awesome show/movie that makes $100 million evolving into a mediocre show that makes $110 million. Boo.
