But I'm glad someone mentioned Jerry miles because I thought of that when watching this. Assuming she runs faster than 7 minute pace per mile, she could cover 3 miles in under 20 minutes in a run, and 6 miles in under 45. So even though she's running a lot of miles, she's not out there for that long.
--Damn waking up at 4:30 to hit the gym? Bed by 8:30. May be in the running for valedictorian at a large school. She's a special kid for sure.
I don't know, when some asks "How much are you running right now?" and the response is "A little over 60 but shhh coach doesn't think I should run that much but I just do".
I think that means she is currently running 60+ miles, not some number from her summer training.

I'm going to give her the benefit of that being asked in the 'speed round' and her being in oxygen debt from running while answering (and I guess her being in high school).
she's a teenager let her like what she likes.
Yeah, that was in half-sarcastic font and with hints of reference to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfIAgVmaXTU7 min per mile is like 60% of his 5 k race pace or + 2 min per mile
Also, probably she is endurance based runner or more slow-twitch, so that's not hard for her.
16:40 5 k runner = 60 % - 7:30 per mile
17:30 5 k runner = 60 % - 7:53 per mile
18:45 5 k runner = 60 % - 8:26 per mile

You really think a 3x winner of NXN might be more slow-twitch dominant?! Truly ground-breaking stuff here. Tell us more!
His 800 m PR is 2:09, 1000 m is 2:48
400 m is slower than 60 s, so yes, I am sure.
Does Katelyn fart when she is running?
Her narrow hip/pelvis area is ideal for running fast. She's going to definitely excel beyond the high school level. Her overall shape is conducive to running fast for a long time.
What are Billy's PR's?
that explains the 4:30 am workout

Gotta say I like The Toad, and he brings a spirit of fun to a sport that can often be too grim --- especially noticeable on LetsRun. We all need to laugh just a little bit more, and Billy has a way of bringing out the lighthearted side of any runner he interviews. More power to him, and GO, KATELYN, GO!
No pb&honey sandwich before a road race?
She's doomed.
Wow. Way to put down someone doing what he enjoys and giving people content that no one else gets. Also bashing a high schooler? No one cares about your opinion.
I personally think these videos are creative and very cool! Wish these were around when I was in high school.
Stay behind your little computer and keep your trash opinions to yourself.
This was a fabulous, fun video, and we get to see a side of Katelyn that was not previously on display, to the best of my knowledge, anyway. Billy is always a kid at heart, and that's a good thing, and he has related very well to Katelyn.
Bravo to Billy and Katelyn, and her friend and teammate, Haleigh Morales (who ran a great NXR to win an individual spot at NXN).
Boo, hiss to all the pathetic gloom and doom posters whose favorite song might be "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. Of course Katelyn's future is not a done deal --- none of us can successfully read the tea leaves and know the outcome in advance --- but her running career sure looks bright.
Katelyn, there are a ton of us who wish you the very best at NC State and beyond. Thanks for the enjoyment so many of us have experienced in watching you excel in high school! So far. With more to come, we hope. Onward and upward!
Always love watching Billy's interviews. What an awesome dude!
Am I the only one seeing Pepe on the guy's t-shirt? I kind of aporove, but...
Her discipline is impressive and unique.
Going to bed at 8:30 and getting up at 4:30 everyday is no joke. It will be interesting to see how she adjusts to college life. Hopefully she rooms with and is surrounded about other discipline minded athletes.

Although I hope she's getting focused on nutrition
She mentioned plain bagels as pre-workout meals and Frosted Flakes as one of her favorite cereal
Once I started eating healthy I realized how much better you feel and could make a real difference for young athlete
Anyway might have been just a little joking around because I'm sure she's getting good advice
Yeah, Frosted Flakes are going to totally derail her career.
Honestly it was a fun interviews so who knows how serious the answers were
But nutrition is one of the most important things in life
And many of the problems that people experience is based on eating crap
And the effects would only be magnified for an athlete doing really strenuous stuff
The average person in America has access to the healthiest foods in the world
There's no reason to eat crappy stuff
Foods that have preservatives and added sugar are basically low-grade poisons
I mean really how hard is it to make a bowl of whole wheat pasta and a mix of potatoes that lasts for a good 5 days
Buy a bag of salad, frozen vegetables, beans, rice, nuts and seeds
Unsweetened yogurts nut butter fruit whole grain bread
We have the obvious poisons like smoking and alcohol
But all the soda artificial colors preservatives and food loaded with sugars is also poison
You can laugh about it but most people aren't dumb enough to bang their head against the wall Just for kicks
I mean I don't see people just banging their head against the wall randomly and saying hey yeah it's no biggie once in awhile
Why ingest poisons into your body in the same haphazard manner

Boring interview. Lame interviewer. These youtubers are talentless. I was surprised by her quad development. Did not like her foot landings. Landing very supinated. If she adds more miles in hard surfaces I’d be afraid of injury due to that mechanic inefficiency.
