Well said rekrunner.
I would like to add that the referendums Switzerland has are quite different from the Brexit Yes or No question in the UK.
All referendums in Switzerland come with a whole set of rules and all pro and cons are available for the public.
In the Brexit referendum it was an open question. Brexit was not defined. And yet to this day it's not really defined. Everybody talks about different things. It all got started with the thought of too much immigration. Which was actually a self inflicted problem. The UK took way more immigrants than the EU required them to do.
Also Immigration is not the only thing which matters while being in the EU. All these thousands of reasons got forgotten. The biggest of them all the Good Friday agreement. A peace agreement between Northern Ireland and Ireland which made the impossible possible. All thanks to the EU.
We have to see what will happen there next.
And than there are all these trade deals the EU has with 90 other countries. All that goes away. And guess what nothing replaces that anytime soon. The UK has to fall back to WTO terms which is the worst of all possibilities.
I have to admit that most of this I didn't know 3 years ago, because the EU works so smoothly.
But soon we will see the first country on earth going back to WTO terms alone.
