Yes, the real college admission leg up goes to the rich. Legacies. And other ways to game the system, that involve paying more than most people can afford, to get higher marks. Or 'intern' experience. Who can afford to work for free?

Many black college students have gotten scholarships and done well in college football, basketball, and track. I live in reality. All of you leftists live in victimhood.
It's irrelevant and wrong to single out whites and attack them. You leftists are what's wrong in society.
So black athletes are dumb. No white privilege. The standards are lower for black athletes. Whites are smarter which is why there is a legacy. That is not privelege. It is just the fact that the parents were smarter than their black peers 20 years ago. Whites make larger donations because they are smarter which resulted in them earning more and they are more generous than blacks which is why they donate more. Even with all of these potentially lower ranked white students being admitted, the averages for blacks and hispanics admitted are much lower. So there is minority privelege in the admissions process. You may not like the facts for a different reason than me, but at least we agree that we don't like them.

Now you are telling the truth.....you do not know NC State that well, yet you have no problem talking smack about them all while being dishonest. NC State is a great school with a great women's cross country team, coach and staff. There is a reason they have been so successful and are bringing in an incredible class (not just Tuohy).
let's not exaggerate. NC State is not a great school. It's fine and if Tuohy sudies hard and applies herself she can do just fine there. But it is not a great school.

I agree. Blacks and females have privilege in college admissions and scholarships today.
Right, almost half of white students getting into places like Harvard need to have family connections to staff, big donors, etc, because Harvard and pretty much everyone doesn't want ordinary white people, they want inferior students with darker skin colors, but not yellow (Asian) either, only black and brown are privileged. Leftist lie boldly about things that they admit among themselves in their own publications/forums/etc, because your nature is evil, and think you can just deceive normal people by putting on great displays of outrage when called on your lies.

Harvard’s own internal investigation found that “demographic factors” alone reduced the share of admitted Asian Americans by 30% while increasing the proportion of Hispanic admissions by 140% and blacks by a jaw-dropping 370%."
Leftists live in victimhood? No, but we do try to call out injustice. And we do believe that the system is titled towards the rich, and the world would be better if it wasn't. No system is perfect. You can argue flaws in college admissions, but the billionaires are busy laundering and cheating.

Way too many alt-right posts in this thread.
missed one on the list:
Mary Cain - Fordham 2019 - B.S. in Marketing and Sports Management, Summa Cume Lauda.
Despite all the challenges she faced, she completed her Bachelors Degree with flying colors, the honors notation signified her GPA was at worst 3.8 out of 4.0.
Portland and Fordham are not Yale, Stanford or Amherst, but with this academic result and her experience as a pro runner, she would certainly be accepted to a top 10 law school or MBA program and she is all set to "go pro in something other than sports", as they say on the NCAA ad, if that's what she ever wants to do.

Your own article says, "Indeed, college football and basketball players skew disproportionately African American."
It might have to do with culture where young African Americans in the inner city aspire to become basketball players or football players.
Instead of going bowling, golfing, or rowing, they choose to go to football, basketball, or track.
No one is stopping a black student from pursuing bowling or golf.

CNN host Don Lemon: Do you think that race plays a part in wealth distribution?
Morgan Freeman: Today? No. No, I don't. No. You and I, we're proof. Why would race have anything to do with it? Put your mind to what you want to do and go with that.... But making it a bigger issue than it needs to be is a problem we have.
You are calling Morgan Freeman an "alt-right" person? You leftists are pushing communism by hyping up "white privilege" to try to scare minorities.
This is completely irrelevant to the thread and unfair.
This thread makes me ill. It makes me wish KT chose a random DIII school near her home just to drive you all nuts... NC State is a fine school. I hire many people, and place VERY little cred on school from which they graduated. Over the past 5 years our best hire came out of Bucknell (a very small school in eastern PA) who did MUCH better than hires out of Wharton, Stern, Sloan, Johnson (Cornell) and others. I'm an old D1 XC runner, and reading all the crap on this thread makes me ill...
I hope KT runs well at NC State, studies hard, and has a great life...
I wish Tuohy would have gone to a great school and great XC program like Johns Hopkins. The 'haters' couldn't complain about the quality of the school (as I would equate Hopkins with ND, Michigan, and Stanford), and would be reduced to be complaining that she would not be getting great training - which would be total BS given their record.
Johns Hopkins is a great undergrad school known for Lacrosse, and probably the best medical school in the country. However, I don't know the XC/Track coach, and I wonder if they would be able to 'handle' a talent like KT. Still, it would have been really interesting if KT chose a great D2 or D3 school like Johns Hopkins or Williams.
I don't know much about these schools, other than they have very good academic reps. Do Johns Hopkins and Williams College even offer athletic scholarships?
But that would have been even dumber than NC State. At least she is getting a free education worth $150k. She would have had to pay $300k at Johns Hopkins. She could have gotten a $300k education for free at Notre Dame.

Didn't Purrier go to UNH?
What a joke! I'm sure she got offered a full ride at Stanford- in the top 5 universities in the USA and she chooses NC state? Weak academics. I see her doing 1 year there and going pro

She will not be at the level to turn pro in 1 year. Considering her current training of 60+ miles p/week, she is already training like college athletes. There is much smaller margin for improvement when she's already running pretty high mileage (for her age).
