I noticed the biggest changes when I increased the amount of supplementary work. Junior year I ran 2:09 for 800 and 55 for 400 and I only did morning/nightly stretching daily and core strength work 3x a week outside of running. Senior year I added
-weight training 5x a week
-Hip strength and Mobility drills every day (see myrtle hip routine)
-Core strength 3x a week
-daily supplementation of Beta-Alanine, Creatine, Omega-3 fish oil, and Vitamin D
-daily morning, nightly, and pre/post workout stretching and foam rolling
Dropped time to 2:01 in 800 and 50.49 in 400
Yea, you hit puberty dude! It is a coincidence, not a result of supplementary work.
Or maybe doing more than just running helps you get faster. Who would've thought?
