Dudek didn't care about obtaining the title. But she is headed off to Stanford to become an NCAA great. Don't worry though, Tuohy will be okay at NC State.

My only hope is that Katelyn does not read these threads or if she does, she does it to get a good laugh. We love a guy behind a computer predicting the failure of a 17/18 year-old girl - mind you, the best female high school XC runner ever. I was never a die-hard fan of Tuohy, but I always respected her talent, humbleness, and desire to stay out of the spotlight.
I'm rooting for her more than ever after reading the crap I've seen on here the past few weeks.
Are you saying that cuz she wears braces
And you're thinking of Carl Lewis and when his whole track team was wearing braces all of a sudden
But she's a seventeen-year-old kid and they were all 30 year old men who suddenly needed braces.
Rookie mistake! I really doubt any of these kids are doing drugs. I mean what do you think they would be on EPO
It wouldn't make sense they're not competing from millions of dollars and basically any of these kids are going to get a scholarship that are in the top 20 30 40 even kids in the top 100 can get scholarships
So a kid is really going to risk their health and Future for a little bit of high school glory. Doesn't make sense. There's plenty of opportunity for kids to run College even at very good schools. I really doubt any of these kids are doing drugs.
You don't understand that predicting an outcome instead of rooting for an outcome are two different things. I am rooting for Tuohy to be an olympian but I don't think she will be. I was rooting for Harvard to win the NCAA XC championship this year but predicted that it wouldn't happen. You have a heart and a head even though most LR posters can't seperate the two.

Runner up to Aisling Cuffe by 4 seconds in brutal, muddy conditions! Unbelievable after her all out effort last week.
LRC add: In the team battle, the Hoka Aggies won with 73 points.

I don’t think any of these girls are doping, but unfortunately I’ve known of people who’ve doped for much less in amateur triathlon, so I no longer think that it requires a massive incentive for someone to dope, only loose morals.

Cant agree with you more my friend...i actually had never really paid much attention to Tuohy before reading these forums. I've always been a big fan of the underdogs...but after reading the crap put out by some of the posters, I started paying more attention to her races and interviews. I have been nothing but impressed with this girl on and off the track, as well as the people around her.
Anything's possible but it would be incredibly dumb for any of these kids to dope
They would be almost assuring that they would I have a lot of negative consequences later on
Doping is always potentially very dangerous. But for a young high-school kid forget about it it's stupid
And like I said what's the upside a little bit of high school glory
So rather than finish fifth or sixth you get first or second
Either way all of these kids are getting scholarships. There's tons of track and field scholarships for women. And obviously these kids are already very very elite
So it would just be stupid beyond belief to risk your whole future for what a couple of spots higher and a little bit of Glory.
And all of these kids seem pretty grounded. I mean every time I see an interview they really seem like they have a good head on their shoulders. So again anything's possible but it would be really dumb.

I can't understand the mentality of people like this dude who obviously feels empowered by predicting negative outcomes of a 17yrs girl future. And of course keeps changing his name because he obviously can't stand behind anything he says going forward.
I'm going to make the assumption that this fella doesn't have kids, and more specifically a daughter. But on the off chance that he does one day, I am 'prediciting' that the first time someone says something mildly negative towards her in school, he will be busting down the principals door screaming for heads to roll.
Anyway, it's just a prediction...not like I am rooting for it to happen....
I agree. I am impressed by the drive and attitudes of all of these girls. It gives me hope for the future to think kids like these could be running things when I'm old. With the brains, talent, character and work ethic that they all display their futures are so bright. I have enjoyed watching them for the past couple of years because they seem like such great kids!

You don't understand that your prediction makes absolutely no sense. She just ran a 20:11 6K in shitty weather, beat multiple pro athletes / former college All-Americans, and then say she'll have an okay career. You're commenting on a posted titled "Tuohy finishes second in pro 6K race" and find a reason to criticize.
Predicting Harvard, a team who controversially qualified due to the altered Northeast Regional course, would win the NCAA XC Championship would be foolish.
Predicting the best high school female cross country runner ever will have an okay / sub-par NCAA career is searching (or maybe even hoping) for misfortune.
Mascarelli did not defend her title yesterday and I (gladly) see she is receiving no criticism. Tuohy wins a 3rd consecutive XC National Championship (by less of a margin) and posters like you predict the end of her career. Rooting for the underdog or newfound star (Dudek) is fine. But comparing and downplaying the favorite (Tuohy) when you're probably some nobody male / female runner is stupid and unnecessary.
I wish people could just celebrate the accomplishments of an extremely hard working, successful young athlete. KT certainly has proven herself to be a phenomenal runner, and I'm sure she will do just fine in spite of all the keyboard warriors on this site and others.
What a pathetic display of people ripping apart a teenager.

Not true--Ewert has a better chance of making the Oympics than these other athletes--in the 20 K rw. However, she is also one our fastest scholastic steeplechasers ever.
Sure, she only needs to improve her PB by 8 minutes to hit the standard. Get a grip.
None of these (hugely talented) girls has the slightest chance to qualify for Tokyo. If they want to compete on an international level, U20 WC in Nairobi are a good opportunity.

I think it might be "person", not "people". I haven't gone back through all the threads, but most, if not all, of the "Tuohy not so good, burnt out" posts are unregistered trolling - some basement dweller getting his sicks by tweaking us more serious running fans.
Tuohy is historically great and the future will unfold as it does. She's a really talented athlete for us to watch and pay attention to. Basement dweller will wither away forever unknown. Good riddance.

How far is "6K" ?
It is my considered opinion, having received my PhD in "Mathematics, As Used To Answer LetsRun Posters' Stupid Questions", that 6K is:
5K + 1K.
Not only that, but 6K is also, incredibly:
3K x 2.
Sincerely,

Why is her coach racing her into the ground? Seems like an inordinately long season.
Don’t you remember in September when she ran some “average” wins with okay times and people said she was burnt out.
She was gearing up for this, a long term goal for nxn and club nats

Video here (thank you Bob Pultorak - luv u man for doing this):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOTyZ6_9Vdc1. Conditions were not that bad.
2. Who is better conditioned for these conditions? Someone who has raced FREQUENTLY in these conditions = advantage Tuohy.
3. Pro's and open runners race cross country so INfrequently = advantage Tuohy again.
4. If this a road race Tuohy would have finished 10th. Again advantage Tuohy (because it WASN"T a road race).
5. Continue to be baffled by women who wear inappropriate kit for FRIGID conditions. Lookee here, the abdomen/core is the engine/the driver. If that is not warm, then nothing else is. If your stomach muscles are cold, then they cramp. Your breathing goes to your stomach (it only passes through your lungs). Your stomach is essentially a bellows. Deliberately exposing your belly button to wind chill, rain and frigidity is just plain dumb. The only American elite who dresses appropriate for the conditions is Desi. Unlike all the others she doesn't see herself as some vain, sex goddess.
6. Would these girls have burnt up in Bethlehem, PA in mid December t'were they t'wear a T shirt with racing vest over?
That would have been two layers to keep the engine/the core/the driver/the bellows comfy & snug.
No thanks necessary.
You're saying Taylor ewert has no chance to make the Olympics in the race walking
Can you give some numbers to back that up there was some articles saying that she has some chance but that it'll be tough

Olympic standard is 1:31:00. Her PB is 1:38:55. Admittedly, that was her first and only 20 km RW .
Her 10k best (track, not road) is 45:57. If you double that, it's still not fast enough.
BTW, the US record is 1:30:49. I'm pretty sure she'll get that record eventually, but next year is a tad too early, IMO.
