Okay so apparently she's not a big fan of cold weather running
So NC State is the only School that she took an official to is a warm weather school
They have an incredible recruiting class so it would take the pressure off. It would be more about the incredible recruiting class then just the focus on her as the Freshman Phenom
Starliper Kelsey chmiel Claire Walters Jenna Schultz seem like really super nice girls who are also very serious about running. She knows them well and it would be great to have a lot of familiar faces around freshman year
Starliper and Kelsey chmiel would definitely keep her motivated and give her girls her Age 2 keep her progressing
Tuohy should go to NC State!!!

Yeah I agree
Starliper is a big-time Talent as well
It would be great to have another freshman Phenom who's right there with her at the mile and two-mile 2 pusher!
It would definitely take the pressure off like you said
And I agree with you all of those girls seem like really great teammates and people -
I totally agree!
Now can someone get word to Katelyn Tuohy what three dudes on the internet are advising and have her plan her future around it -
I'm sure I the word will filter Through the Grapevine of the internet. And someone at her high school will read this and yada yada yada
I mean if a very few random people on the internet can't affect where a top high school athlete goes to college I don't know what kind of world it is -
If you want to go on a one on one example comparison based off each girl only being on campus for a few months(which I think is a bad way to do it) you can look at NC State & Michigan's top freshman.
At NXN 2018 Kelsey Chmiel got 2nd with a 16:54 while Ericka Vanderlende was 8th with a 17:27.
At NCAA 2019 Chmiel was 22nd with 20:32.5 and Vanderlende was 25th with 20:32.8.
So Vanderlende really closed the gap. This is also just comparing 2 people based off of 2 races and neither have really benefited or suffered much from their college training yet.
Chmiel did run a nice 16:02 5K the other day at BU but I would think Vanderlende would likely go around 15:45 right now. Will find out in a few months. -
Earlier in the fall when Touhy ran Great American she used that as a chance to visit NC State. It seems like Lehigh University, where she will run this weekend, might be a good fit for her - close to home, great academics, strong cross country program. Just an impression, so I might be overlooking something. She seems to prefer a smaller, low-key setting, and Lehigh is in the Patriot League with Boston College, where her friend Haleigh will run. I certainly don't know her personally, but based on things that have been mentioned in articles it seems like a lot works there.

Lehigh does not have a strong cross country program, not very good would be a better way to describe it. Not sure they would qualify for NXN.
Also, the Patriot league is not where Boston College competes.
So, it does not work at all, but nice try. -
I don't see how NC State has a full scholarship left.
-
Why? Does she want to be a farmer when she gets out of school?

Yeah, it seems that she should go where she wants to. -

Starliper got a full scholarship and they have four other recruits including Claire Walters.

Yikes. First post to these message boards. You guys are a tough crowd.
We had a kid on my son's team in Arizona. The high school is ranked one of the top in the nation, and this kid was at the top of his class. Near perfect SAT score, and one of the top runners in Arizona through his high school. He went to Lehigh, so I guess that's why I thought it was a good school.
I did say it was just a thought, which is what I assumed message boards were meant to share. I mean, until she announces her choice isn't it all speculation? -
Notre Dame and Stanford cost $300k. Nc State is $175k. Woukd you take a gift worth $175k or $300k?

Yes Slo_Jo, as I have found out many times as well, there is not much forgiveness on these boards. Folks here will often take legitimate posts and hammer them to dust because, of course, only they know what is right and proper...and they can apparntly predict the future as well .
Best to keep a thick skin, and feel free to slag them back... -
So she shouldn't take any scholarship because her parents are well off. Do you give all of your money to charity?
-
BS...she should go to Virginia Tech.
-
State school, crappy education, lousy city, why?
-
And a 100% full athletic scholarship at that... all those stupid wannabe DI coaches and dads saying it's not possible any more like sub-14:00 guy. Eat it.
-
Not full unless she is a moron. Academic and need based come first and I don't think she is dumb. So yes full ride but no, not athletic. And women get 18 compared to men at 12.
