Just came off a pretty successful XC season where I got injured in the beginning but bounced back with new PRs of 17:13 in the 3-mile and 17:43 in the 5K. Got my first opportunity to run a post season meet and had a blast.
Now onto indoor except my coach is awful... Our “practices” are only Monday-Friday (no practice on half days or breaks like Thanksgiving) unlike every other team in the county that practices 6 days and run over 5-6 miles a day on their easy days and manage their workouts pretty well.
Today he had middle and long distance run a staggering 3 200s with 6 50 meter strides which is already kind of ridiculous for a day. But everyday is like this.... Everyday it is something very minimal barely accumulating 2-2.5 miles every practice through some random workouts he throws together from Google along with some CrossFit exercises he thinks helps to develop speed like Burpees and mountain climbers.
I have PRs of 2:10 in the 800m indoors and 2:03 in the 800m outdoors and really want to sub-2 but with the way this seasons looking and has been looking for the past 2 years it’s looking a little doubtful. Especially since he forces me to follow his workout plans now. I hit 6x1k at around 3k-5k pace and he absolutely flipped when he found out that I wasn’t doing the 10 minute tempo run he had planned for us on the track along with our CrossFit exercises he had given us...
Is it worth just quitting and running on my own until outdoor since we don’t even run any fun or important meets (4 meets the whole indoor seasons while others in the county go to 11-12) anyways and I’m already overloaded with school work as it is so I don’t have time to run extra at home on weekdays?
