I was admittedly tired today so that was about 50-65 percent of the problem, but the shoes didn't feel right, they almost felt funny and the felt like weights. I don't know if it was because of my dead legs or what?

So disappointing, I was really hoping to break 30 today :(

Ha ha ha! You stole my name. Seriously I started post and they felt like crap!
I know this is likely a troll post, but I actually agree with the OP!
I tried the Next% and they felt awful. I don't know if it was the plate, the thick midsole, the foam composition, or what, but they just didn't feel natural. It felt like I was fighting the shoe instead of working with it. But a lot of people like them, so what do I know?

It's the thickness of the midsole. The whole 1st mile felt like l was in quicksand, but the last mile felt ok.
When I tried the Vaporfly, it felt mushy walking and jogging. When I took it up to faster pace (sub-7:00/mile, it felt fast. I didn't have enough room to try it faster. I bought the New Balance FuelCell Rebel instead. It's an entirely different feel, but it felt faster. On the track the NB Rebel was good, but it wasn't as great as I hoped. I've ordered a pair of Newton Distance 8 to see if they are better for interval workouts.
FWIW, I read somewhere that unless you can run at a 5:30/mile pace, these carbon shoes won't make any difference. Also, they are useless at any distance under the Half.

Not at all correct.

It’s been well established that anybody who makes this post simply uses their own ‘thon pace for the minimum pace for vaporflys to make a difference.
why is the heel so pointy ?
I think you're supposed to run with an exaggerated heel-strike in these.
So,did you break 30?

Tell that to Clayton Young who who the NCAA 10k in them and the northeast regional qualifying teams a couple weeks ago (girls ran 6k)
Did you smash your PR? According to this site they automatically make you really fast and all PR’s or fast times are because of the shoes and not the athlete running well
Also, I can't wrap my head around the concept of statistical tendencies. I truly believe that one anecdotal example can render loads of other data meaningless.

What? The exact opposite is correct.
I wore Next Percent's in my first marathon last month.
I broke them in with a couple tempo runs. They feel very strange at first, once you get going they feel great.
The marathon was a success, ran negative splits.
My legs and feet do feel weird after running in them, they make you plant differently than other shoes.
My legs were sore as f*ck after the marathon, well it was my first y'know, and I topped out my training at a mere 60 mpw.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
