Carson Belnap was .7 seconds behind Sprout in 14:42, his previous 5k pr was 15:20 set with 4th place at Bob Firman. Track PRs of 1:59, 4:19, and 9:49. How did this guy make such a huge jump from earlier races in the season?

Sprout was 2 seconds off his last year’s NXR time. Were the conditions any different from last year?
Is Belnap gonna maintain this performance and finish in the top 5 at NXN?
It was raining for the last few days in Arizona and the course was very muddy and slippery. Last year was much dryer

Also Sprout was cruising. Wanted to win but was saving it for nationals.
At least in my experience, your body wants to do the bare minimum to succeed. Idk if it translates to XC but I know when I run an 800 (My example cause it's the only race I win) and I've won the race at the 200m mark, my last lap is usually pretty slow. It's not cause I'm not trying, it's cause my body doesn't want to. When it comes down to it, a win is a win
And at NXN the time difference between Belnap and Sprout was 3 seconds. Pretty close to how it was at NXR.

And at NXR 2018, he finished 7th at not even the championship race, but the Boys Med. School II race. And he wasn’t even the fastest runner on his team that year. The one that was faster than him (Oblad) is also in the class of 2020.

His indoor 1600 time for this winter - 4:13 - is faster than his outdoor PR.
He currently has the #1 1600 indoor time of the season in the country.
Liam Murphy split 4:11 in an anchor leg of a dmr
Also Cruz Culpepper 4:01 mile, 1600 lead is cool but...
He committed to run for BYU, now no longer on the roster
Missions and redshirts make it tough to know if someone has moved on from BYU or from running or is just not back in the program yet. I haven’t heard anything about his status, but then I wouldn’t unless it was here.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
