Unless he has accepted an offer this is a terrible time to leave a job. Not much open and very little movement. I think it is more likely that after getting let go at Bosie (when his boss was fired) and likely not getting on well with the new head coach at SJSU he is disillusioned with the profession and looking to go home and do something else.
However, just to be clear, you assumed everything you wrote in that last sentence and have no idea what's going on.
There is some assumption but not a lot. I know exactly why he is not at BSU: the head track coach was fired and the admin let the new head coach (Immels) bring in a new staff. I know less about SJSU other than the coach who hired him there left for Louisville (not an assuption either).
Wick has improved a program in a tight spot. I am assuming the new head coach is indifferent towards cross country and does not want to scrape for distance points in a very tough conference. I am sure it is infuriating as a coach to be told to do the best you can with little to no scholarship help, in a situation that is otherwise fairly ideal (good weather, good conference, appealing school).
It is also not an assumption to say that right now is a very bad time to be looking for a job that pays a living wage in this career field. That being said, it is not out of the possibility for Wick to have another job lined up, just unlikely.
Could he be heading to Eastern Michigan? Could he be taking over Dartmouth?
No posting yet at Eastern. It's been at least a month since Goodridge retired.

Shake up coming in the desert
In what area of the desert?
He is insinuating changes to come at U of Arizona, most likely.
Over the last five years I can think of three negative, national level, stories coming out of the track program there from the throws coaching scandal, to the malcontent/low level steeple chase transfer, as well as the most recent story. I can not fathom how the head coach has survived this long.
Vacancy at Arizona State to be announced

Obviously Navajo Technical University
Any information on event area yet?
Saw a couple of these today:
University of Arkansas - Little Rock Director of Ops
XC/Distance Coach at Neosho County Community College (pays decent for a juco)
Head Men and Women's Coach Central State University (pays pretty well for D2)
Southwestern Michigan Community College - Is this a new program?
got to be a tad more specific? At least event area.
Average coach in the Jayhawk conference makes over 60,000 a year
What are the chances that the programs get combined at Eastern?
