What’s the perception out there? This a good job or not? Anyone know details of funding, admin support, expectations, pressure, pay, academic challenges, getting kids into school, travel, etc. ??Seems like it could be a very successful institution for XC/T&F.
You're a little confused. Who said I was an athlete at UNCW? The position is open is all there is to say.
Not fully funded scholarships
Kids run the program and do whatever they want.
ACT minimum of 34 for admittance.
Terrible indoor track.
Average pay because it’s an honor to coach there.
Sounds like you have been rubbed the wrong way by Duke.
Get outta here Ray. You're a liar!
??
Just have to make sure the general public knows not to trust you on this site. Nothing you post about is accurate and only used to stir the pot.
What's inaccurate about LC HC position open? Why you on my nuts? It's almost flattering.

When I started coaching, I remember wondering why Duke wasn't the Stanford of the East. THe reality is that at least for the men, they hardly have any scholarships.
Plus the appeal of the job has drastically gone down given what has happened in the ACC the last few years. I was texting with a college coach this evening about the opening and said somethign along the lines of "I'd be hesitant to take that job as it would be tough to be in the ACC with Notre Dame, UNC, UVA, and Syracuse." I mean those teams are all in on the sport and have great coaches.
This coach texted back "Exactly and they have lousy financial aid and only a few scholarships."
All of that being said,it's still an amazing D1 job. It's just not one of the top 5 jobs out there like you might think. But this opening could awaken a sleeping giant. It's not a good day if you are Milt at UNC or Lananna at UVA as this could siphon some talent away from them.
Princeton with no scholarships recruits the pants off of Duke because kids know that Vig can train people and Norm cannot. Duke women rose to power with Jermyn coaching them, he left and they immediately fell apart, that’s the Norm system.
Duke treats its athletes well and is a prestigious school with great weather and a beautiful campus. 2019 and 2020 recruiting classes are very strong. They do have some scholarships and needs based aid is similar to ivy league. The right coach could definitely make this program competitive very quickly. If you build it, they will come.
That would be like a current D3 coach turning down a D1 job because "the competition is tougher." For the record, the ACC really isn't as strong as you think it is. Actually quite weak in certain events.
What's the story behind the situation alluded to on the homepage between Ogilvie and Wetmore at Colorado?
If there is XC any longer after C-19. I see most colleges dropping XC and indoor

No way XC gets dropped. It is one of the least expensive sports and too many opportunities for women to offset football roster numbers (Title 9)

Exactly, the story makes no sense Quiller was the coach at CU Wetmore has been head coach since 1995.
Ogilvie spent 3 semesters coaching at cu in the late 90s.
