daaaaamn das crazy
but I don't remember askin
Ok I actually read the VLOG. Seems like both girls had two different backgrounds. Mary never went to college and partied for half a year. Home girl was probably running 50-60 miles a week at 16 and then signed up to go get coached by psycho. I’m not defending Mary in this but I feel some of this is on Nike for signing someone to a pro contract at 17.

Why not? Most Gynecologists are male.

Also. Jen was never a name outside USA. she made teams but she was never in discussion for medals and it was a time when Americans were not expected to do anything at international level in distance.
Incorrect! Regardless, there is a difference between males and male gynecologists. Male gynecologists are qualified to discuss women's menstrual cycles, males are not. Unless of course you're a male who menstruates and gives birth.

Her thoughts resonate in reflection of her career, long and solid yet ultimately unnoteworthy outside of narrow context.
I think she made clear the reason for the article - she said she wanted attention. 1800 Twitter followers isn't getting that much attention. But as others have pointed out why does she think anyone would care right now that she had a great experience. No one was claiming that there aren't any females having positive experiences in sports. That isn't an unrepresented point of view but what Mary and others have discussed is and that is why their conversations are important and need to be heard. Plus Jen's career is why Alberto claimed he started the NOP in the first place - dominant American runners who weren't even on the radar at the international level.

Don’t subject yourself to abuse. I’ll spare you today but if it was Friday night and we were at the bar there is bound to be some comedic gold in reference to that statement.
Men menstruate and women have penises. Statistics should not be gathered because gender is fluid.
That's not what she said wrote:

"I was a professional athlete for over 20 years, and I have never missed a menstrual cycle.
Ok, do I have your attention now? Here we go."
And you can't read
I think this story gives credibility to what was said on the podcast that most All-Americans in distance running do not miss their periods.
Top athletes can train and prepare for races in a healthy way without having to pay a price of lost periods and broken bones.
It would be nice if Mary Cain and other athletes could reach out to Jennifer Rhines for advice.
