its hilarious how this unnamed person won't reveal his/her identity yet he/she is calling Cain a Coward. How comical.

This person isn't withholding their own name. They are "unnamed" because the whole thing was brought up in an interview with Cain and she didn't say who she was talking about. For all we know, the person in question doesn't even know about the interview or have any clue that this is being discussed.

Ok . It was me .

Classic signs of narcissism include not being able to handle criticism in a normal manner, blaming failures on others and taking solace in bringing other people down. The root of narcissism usually begins relatively early in life but gets expressed later in life. Mary has all of these signs.
Didn't she have problems with her teammates going back to high school, which is why some thought she went pro in the first place? Seems to be a pattern.
The perfect image of Rowbury turning her back on Mary Cain.

Correct. According to Elizabeth Weil who wrote the 2015 NYT Mag article about her, her HS teammates didn't like her

I got terrible access. From Nike. From Salazar. From Mary. From Mary’s high school teammates, who harbored lots of animosity….

So at what point do we say the problem is Mary?
Doesn’t get along with HS teammates, doesn’t get along with Nike teammates, blames Alberto and Nike for not getting better and getting injured....
When did we all become so damn weak and over-sensitive to everything?? When did it become such a horrible sin to let someone deal with their own problems? Isn’t this the same Mary Cain we saw holding a teddy bear, I believe, about the time she turned pro? She’s a child that’s completely unprepared to handle the big, bad world and the truth. The only thing Alberto is guilty of is not knowing how to delicately handle a ‘precious snowflake’. Last time I checked, poor people skills is not reason to be crucified. Same with the ‘unnamed teammate’. That person is a pro, and pro’s don’t involve themselves with others drama and problems. Simply put, you can’t spend the energy on other folks issues. Sorry, but it’s time to grow up and get over it. If you can’t handle being a professional and the incredible demands physically and emotionally, it’s best you move on and stop blaming everyone else. That behavior ended in high school.

That is the picture of a Champion , heart of a lion . Also , like a driven successful National Champion , declines the role of raising a 17 year old because that is Cain's parents job.
Shannon was training , she wasn't Maria von Trapp , hired to nurture Mary into a young debutant.
Dawn Grunnagle was still competing through 2013 at the same races as NOP, married. Her behavior by some seems nice, but I found her stand offish and inconvenienced at a race in Tyler - it could easily be her and not rowbury.
Did she join NOP after Cain? Cain indicated that whoever it was had never had nice things to say about her "before" the pro joined NOP.

You can say the same thing about Shalane Flanagan, except add the words "integrity" and "principled" and "leader." And, of course, Shalane ground Salazar and NOP under her foot.
She was NOP 2011-2013 and I was understating her unpleasant disposition.
So now we are on nine pages at LRC of how Rowbury should have been a better nanny to an immature high school girl who was making millions while whining and crying because she was lonely, could not relate to high school runners, chose not to run with a college team, and wasn't treated like a diva among more experienced runners professional runners.
Brojos love this stuff.

Cmon fellas. We don’t even know if it was Shannon. Could be entirely fictional. This coming from someone who was never a big fan of her

Then you should be ragging on Shalane for not raising Mary as her own daughter and leave Shannon out of this.
I wonder if any of the women involved in all this stuff read these threads?
Just wonderin' for no particular reason.

Doesn’t get along with HS teammates...
I don't see how you can be so sure. Wouldn't we have to know a lot more to know why she had problems with her HS teammates? Lots of things could have caused problems there. Maybe her ambition and drive made her more serious, and less fun to be around. Maybe she was a prima donna, or a pain in the ass. Maybe her teammates were jealous, or resentful. Maybe they were spoiled or lazy or entitled brats. Maybe, maybe, maybe...
Add in that everyone on the team was a teenager, so by definition couldn't act like a grown up, and it's no surprise things went sideways.
If I was a betting man, I'd put my $$$ on "some bit of each." And if I was on a jury, I'd go for the Scot's Verdict: Not Proved. We just don't know enough.
But what fun would that be?
