I love this result. Now those who were secretly hoping for Cain's downfall will have more reason to pull their hairs out...you guys who can't break 17 ...I'm talking about YOU.

STOP with the overanalyzing to try and diminish this girl's performance to make your male egos feel better. She is a powerful talent like the Dutch Ethiopian lady. If a guy had run 13:56 on this course, say, Ritz in his days, everyone would be trying to justify why the course was the CORRECT length and do anything to lend credibility to his performance. Or some will say "but if you take the conditions into account, Ritz could go at least 20 seconds faster than this on a track for a full 5k!!"....

There was snow on half the course, COME ON MAN?
There was very little snow on the course. it was hard as a rock over 95% with a handful of pretty bad spots.
It was 20 degrees, so not ideal there. Again, the fastest kid of the day, over a minute faster than in september. My fastest kid went from mid 16s to low 15s. He has not improved that much. They literally took a 600 meter loop right off of the race map at the last minute. They added around 100 to 125 meters back in another spot.
It snowed like a week ago!
I live in New York it's been sunny and cold the last 4 days
It's always a little different Upstate but it was probably decent conditions and a little bit of a short course
165 speed rating. normal
and my kids speed rating went up 4 points from the september race, despite running 1:15 faster.

I believe the person on the scene. No way the runners run the times they did for a full 3 mile (or 5k) course today. That does not mean they did not run well.
Official results.
Let's not over think this. The race was frigid, frozen, snowy and almost at risk of not happening. Tuohy, Walters and Rauber all basically ran to the form charts. I believe for safety reasons the course was altered/shortened, so there is not a lot to read into the times. The biggest news is probably that Rauber ran the same time as Walters despite running solo, a strong effort.
F-M also put together a surprisingly strong team race to win over Saratoga. Toga is still deep at 5 6 and 7, so may still be the team to beat at nationals where more runners cause displacement. Good job by all the ladies under tough conditions.
Times are misleading in XC. While Tuohy is the greatest HS XC runner ever and she did amazing today, her performance here wasn't really an accurate display of her full talent. She's been running very well consistently but to put things into perspective the 16:21 she ran at Holmdel Park last year was a 177 speed rating and today was 165. While speed ratings aren't exactly comparable from course to course, try to comprehend Tuohy running a 15:00 today to understand just how good she was at that time. It will be very exciting seeing her come back to form and actually have competition come track season with the upcoming trials and college.
Brooke Rauber's finish was also pretty impressive, running solo and finishing 1:44 ahead of 2nd place in her divisional race.
Colton Kempney may be a name to watch in the future. Sophomore had the 3rd fastest time of the day in 14:29.3, just 3 seconds Sam Lawler's top time of 14:26.1.

Is moran like a letsrun joke, or do people not know it is actually spelled moron? And is not a word to be used anyway? Or is that the same poster who cannot spell it posting under something like 20 different names?
It is an internet meme based on this photo:

Rauber and Tuohy looked different than every other girl at the meet today. So powerful. While Walters and Rauber ran the same time, Rauber looks on a different level talent wise. Not that the eye test is always correct with distance runners.
I was at the meet . Wow is she a power runner . No one touched her BUT the course was changed from the mapped one due to all the snow . No one knew exactly how long it was .
considering how FM runners fare after high school I would think its safe to say that Rauber is significantly more talented than Walters
Kudos to walters for having an amazing xc career since 8th grade and keeping the steady improvement.
Very true . Rauber is built exactly like Touhy , but the most muscular runner was definitely Madison Reylea , 2nd in the D race, who is a nationally ranked cross country skier . Definitely a different build than the wispy girl distance runner build

She finished like a Diamond League 800m.
The conditions were far from ideal, but it was a flat, fast course with poor footing in some areas. Here are two photos I took of Tuohy on snow/ice during the race.
For context, 104 boys ran faster on the same course, same day, & same conditions. 15:36 seems on par for a 9:40 - 9:50 2 miler.
that is 104 of the roughly 475 boys who ran yesterday.
