I can’t recall Arkansas missing the meet in the past 35 years. Maybe they have.

CU’s men have the longest currently at 29 years in a row. Wisconsin has the longest string ever, upper 30’s to low 40’s I believe, which was snapped a few years ago.
Maybe quality runners are finally getting wise and avoiding the school? I remember reading a pretty damning thread about the whole program and its leaders a two or three years ago...

While a lot of talent has transferred out, they do have a decent incoming recruiting class incoming (mostly from Texas) OSU’s current issue is they can’t stay healthy.

Gee, I wonder why that is. I'm sure it's a coincidence that German (and others) had a tough time staying healthy too (nearly 10 years ago).

I would hate to be on the CU team that breaks that streak.
I believe that Stanford has a pretty long streak too.
Probably doesn’t help that both assistant XC coaches have no prior coaching experience.
The teams that I can’t remember the last time they didn’t qualify are Colorado, Stanford, Iona and BYU. There are probably others

Iona did not qualify in 2001
BYU did not qualify in 1998
Not sure when is the last time that Stanford did not qualify, but it’s before 1994.

What runners besides German had issues? German had issues even after leaving OSU. He was going to have trouble adjusting to longer distances and mileage anywhere he went. When he ran for BAC and had all the tools that Nike had to offer, he still got injured. OSU won 3 national titles and had multiple other podium finishes. I think they are doing just fine. What program can you think of that doesn't have ups and downs? The entire Big 12 is down this year. They only got 2 teams into the NCAAs this yr.
Have to love the haters on OSU. They had their top runner injured. If the guy who finished in the top 5 at NC's finished in the top 25 at their Midwest regional this wouldn't even be a topic. Any runner would be lucky to get to run for such a storied and great program like OSU. OSU, Oregon, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Stanford are the blue bloods of running. Dont hate, and just congratulate... Never heard of a former runner complaint other than they are upset that they didnt get to stay for 4 additional years....

It's just that clay mayes guy stirring up trouble again. Imagine having an axe to grind ten years later. Super weird.

This.
He’s still so angry that he wasn’t as talented as he thought he was and blames Dave Smith. What a weird guy. He transferred to OU and didn’t do any better there (he may have been slower even). He got in hot water at his last job (Bacone College) for attacking OSU runners on Twitter. (Imagine being like 30 and attacking 20 year olds that you don’t know personally). Maybe if his IP address is connected to these posts he’s making on here he’ll almost get fired again from his current job coaching? Hmm...

According to this articles, Stanford has qualified both teams together for the last 26 years:
https://gostanford.com/news/2019/11/15/cross-country-card-teams-to-ncaa-again.aspxI also dug around on their site, and it looks like that this is the 26th year in a row for the men and the 27th for the women.
Even though Clay Mayes III is over the top in how much he trashes Dave. There's more to the story than the successes.
For example, the recruiting class that came in for 2010 only returned 2/8 runners by the end of the year (Shane Moskowitz, Kirubel Erassa). This was on a team of ~20-25 (?). Among the people who quit that year was Matt McElroy, who went on to be an All-American/National Champion at NAU and has gone on to become an Olympic hopeful in Triathlon.
One thing OSU and Dave Smith are known for: not developing a single Oklahoma high school athlete. To be fair Stillwater is a tough draw to anyone familiar with the town, and their team has a very bad reputation amongst Oklahoma runners. Clay Mayes gets a lot of fame (and hate) for his criticisms, but he is actually a well liked guy among those who know him personally. I left the state for a Colorado school because Dave Smith and Martin Smith hard no interest in developing athletes, and they missed a huge opportunity with myself and a few other top recruits out of Oklahoma. I would suggest Tulsa for any prep runners in the state.
Dave Smith is a legend and I bet both teams will qualify next year.
Pile on now while you can.
To answer OP's question: longest streak is the Colorado men at 28 years. Then Stanford at 26, BYU at 21, and Iona at 18.
On the women's side, it's Stanford at 27, Michigan State at 19, and Michigan at 18.
All streaks compiled below:
Iona

OSU has had no OK runners?
https://okstate.com/sports/saac/rosterYou can go back a ways and see he has had OK runners there. He might not have gotten some of the most talented OK runners to come, but he has certainly had OK runners there. To have a lot of out of state runners on a team is not uncommon in XC, especially for a team that won national championships.
