Bold assumption.
Totally open to that assumption being false.
It is hard to separate anything real from the usual haters and trolls.
However in either case, this situation should’ve been wrapped up much sooner.
How exactly do you know the situation should have been wrapped up much sooner? What real facts is this claim based on?
The university says it is following it's protocol; are you claiming that the University of Guelph representative is lying and if so to what end?
Do you expect anything from a corporation getting money from the government? It has to be sanitized and rewritten multiple times to meet phantasy expectations.

This is basically an HR issue. If there is a smoking gun, he should have been gone within a week or two.
If there is no smoking gun, then to leave an investigation open for months on end, while someone’s reputation is going to be ruined no matter the outcome is pretty amateurish. If the investigation truly needs this much time, then perhaps some communication beyond “no comment” would be fair.
I don’t think Guelph is lying or intentionally being unprofessional. I think it has underestimated the potential damage to its employee’s reputation and has underestimated the track community’s appetite for scandal.
Again, that said, if it turns out something untoward happened then all of this is somewhat moot.

Trackie doesn't care about the Forum? Ha....that they took down a Canadian Running article relating to this is nuts.
I asked some people about this situation, and for the investigative journalists here--call Matt Courtenay at IONA. He supposedly has been pretty vocal about how DST verbally berated him when he chose IONA over Guelph in 2017. He has told a lot of younger kids about what happened....it is pretty unbelievable.
trackie moderators are frustrated the delete keys don't work on this forum.
This was posted on Trackie.ca Essentially this - "any talk of a cover up is grounds for a cover up..." Message from Moderator: ...You all are the ones creating the illusion of a coverup. This sort of conspiracy theorizing is exactly why we had been deleting posts related to this matter...

So why are they now allowing a thread?
If there was anything to say it would have been said on this forum BY NOW
so it's time to call BS!
See you in Tokyo Dave.
I am unclear how to feel about all this. I have known Dave well for 20+ years, and have known his wife since high school (I consider her a longtime friend). I am sorry to hear about their split, if that is true. I hope her and the kids are ok during this time.
But this is weird. This is the most important coaching/ track program in Canada, and I can't quite believe Dave would go "on leave" just months before the Olympics. He is probably the most competitive person I have ever met, and it is certainly way, way out of character. What is also disconcerting is how much power that the university and club program seems to have over money and national team positions. If any of these allegations are true I hope AC looks into how athletes or team selections have been influenced by this consolidation of power in one area/ club.
On a personal level I also know my nephew was banned from rejoining Speed River after running with them for years, and helping the team win a national club XC title. The reason? Because he had chosen a US school (on full scholarship) instead of Guelph. This was told to my nephew by way of his junior coach, but was evidently Dave's decision. It was downright petty. (And for the record I would have shown my disdain for this decision to Dave's face the next time I saw him).... But if Speed River wants to act that way, it is their choice I suppose.
Last, why a cone of silence at Trackie (seemingly imposed by the Guelph program or people trying to not discuss this)? Seriously guys, grow up.

I guess that I don't get the antagonistic stance against Trackie on this. If I could potentially be on the line for thousands of dollars worth of damages for something that someone else said, I would err on the side of caution as well. I have definitely worked in newsrooms that took a way more conservative stance on the risk of defamation ...and that's saying something, because they had a lot more access to legal firepower.
Adam and co. have provided us with a virtually open forum, free of charge...I think that we can let him make a few self preserving decisions, at least until some solid facts come out.
Considering that DST is now referring to himself as “FORMER coach at University of Guelph”, I think you’ll have to change Tokyo plans
Bring back TNF NORTH!!! Who needs Trackie!
I think you may need to ask around as to the true reason your nephew wasn’t allowed to return to the club.
Remember how TnFNorth was actually literally operated by UofG/SR in the form of Chris Moulton? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Aye, we dream of the good old days, when you could libel liberally on the internet and no one got hurt. What a time it was.
FriarTuck:
Nice insinuation.
So great that any Junior/ High school kid that runs into the higher ups at Speed River or Guelph, they are to blame....I will let all the runners, parents and future recruits to Guelph decide who has acted properly. Keep talking and defending bad behaviour folks.

Pretty sure all his social media is down right now. So not sure I would put much stock what it said. But again. Who knows!
DST is the man!
No coverup, just a health leave of absence (SR), an investigative leave of absence, and a divorce. Just in time for the Olympics?
Doesn’t sound like a bunch of conspiracy theories so far.

Why would they asks to respect privacy when the university , and a pending legal action is underway?
He needs to step away from that jacket. Woof
