Agree, cool he's a fan. Nice to have a Canadian on the boards other than Greg. Also cool he's a runner. iirc he was fast in high school
tbh though, not a fan of Gladwell. Read outliers, thought it was meh. Listened to his revisionist history podcast, that was drivel. Especially his episode about Stanford. I shut it off after that one. Also head him on the runners of nyc podcast and that was painful to listen. I think the host laughed at him at one point (not with him).
My real problem with Gladdwell is he passes himself off as this smart guy, but instead of actually being smart he just has a bunch of random hot takes. When they stick it's like boom he wins, and when they don't it's like, "oh you just don't get it" and hopefully you'll just forget about it. I wouldn't be so offended if his work wasn't passed off as hoity-toity highbrow ideology. It's no better than This American Life, but at least Ira Glass doesn't pretend to be an intellectual.
